I always think that as long as you're going to be carrying a mat, then a quilt makes more sense than a half-bag ... I understand this won't be true if you're sitting out the night on a mountain ledge but when you're lay in a field.

I know you see it a lot but it often prevents you acheiving as taught a pitch as possible and also abrades the waterproof coating on the tarp ... what's wrong with 2 short lines, one each end of the tarp and use...

Standard cage will fit fine Nigel ... although if using the nuts / bolts supplied, you might need to shorten them a touch depending on what cage you're using.

I sometimes sleep in Integral Designs Primaloft trousers but with a bag / quilt rather than instead of. I like to have something over me when I'm sleeping ... probably some deep seated childhood insecurity or some such
