It sounds like you might not have the clearance, but I found a plastic 1 litre bottle in a supermarket that fits snugly into a bottle cage, and it didn't budge with a strap around it:

Re: drj0n Limpet
I've used rubber lined stainless steel P clips on my Ramin and they haven't budged. As mentioned above, getting the correct size is important, but they're a viable and relatively cheap option. I've used the drop out mounts as a backstop to prevent them moving downwards.

Re: Bottle cages on the top tube.
I've used one of these for extra bottle capacity on conventional steel tube frames. However, judging by your name you might have too fat tubes too! https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/universal-bottle-cage-mount-black/_/R-p-143406?mc=8339445 https://contents.mediadecathlon.com/p792999/k$a1c4b80e7a4b2aebf...

Re: Silnylon Poncho Wanted.
Thanks for the offer Verena, but as I'm looking for a poncho for my 18 year old son, I think there's zero chance that he'd wear it  We both had significant birthdays this year (50 and 18), so we're marking it by walking the Camino Primitivo in May. I've already got an ultralight poncho that I ...

Off Topic - 40ish litre Rucsac Wanted - Sorted.
40ish litre rucsac wanted for 6' 2" broad shouldered lad. Doesn't have to be ultralight, but certainly lightish. Preferably with accessible side pockets to hold water bottles etc, hopefully not a retina-scarring colour and as cheap as possible...

Does Anyone Want a Jack the Bike Rack for the Kickstarter Price?
As per the title really. If anyone wants one for the Kickstarter price of £58, I can add it to my order. The downside is that I'll need to be paid straightaway, and you'll have to wait a couple of months until they arrive. Once they arrive, I'd prefer if I didn't have to post it, so a meetup / colle...

Re: How good is Endurance
I wonder if any of the glass plate photographs left behind would still be any good? In the accounts that I've read, the plates that weren't kept were broken to ensure they couldn't be surreptitiously added to the collection. This was to save weight, so a very good example of TLS. I seem to remember...

Went to one of my favourite Lakeland valleys today only to find complete devastation, deforestation and storm damage aplenty. Did nearly 40km pootling about checking some old campsites but the only one in half decent nick had the local bears in residence so I moved on. Rode back to the car a bit di...

Re: Denmark or Sweden (edit)
I haven't been cycling in Sweden, but I worked there for six months and did a bit of walking and camping. Camping is allowed almost anywhere, and there are lots of shelters with firepits dotted about. It's a very good place to take a hammock too. If a track looks cyclable then you can take a bike th...

Re: Any decent mtb-ing to be had over The Wirral way?
There is some nice off road cycling near Frodsham if you're heading that way. I wouldn't call it mountain biking, but I do an enjoyable 15ish mile loop that includes bridleways, towpaths, country lanes, a decent climb and a very enjoyable downhill.
