Re: Audax tips?
Oh, another tip for long distance cycling generally, go as easily as possible up hills so as to not go into the red. But also go hard descending, working about as hard as you do when cimbing, in order to maximise the distance/effort balance overall

Re: Audax tips?
I did a solo 400 yesterday, to complete the 200, 300, 400, 600 Super Randonneur for the season. - Go at a steady pace and fuel regularly, and you'll be able to carry on pretty much indefinitely. - Don't dally at stops but always stop to eat if you feel the bonk coming on else it'll be too late and y...

Re: Audax tips?
Basic food will typically be provided by the organiser for the finish (unless the audax is an 'x rated' one). But controls are typically at/near normal cafes where one buys one's own food

Re: TD 2019 rigs ('bikes' for the English speakers).
Ive Di2 on the posh road bike. I am abooooout to order a groupset for the winter road bike too. Ive numb, bloodless fingers in even remotely cold weather. The ease of just pressing a button really helps on long distance audax rides. My hands can turn to inoperable claws with the cold/wet and fatigue.

I think I did it on a 40c rear and 47c front. What I could fit. Would be fine with 40c and 40c - aside from the descent with huge water bars on GWR, which required mincing down

Re: Etrex 30x or Wahoo Elmnt ROAM: A vote
Ive an Elmnt Bolt for roadie, which is perfect for me for that (over the older roadie-leaning Garmin I've also got, now sitting unused). Ive an old Garmin Dakota for off-road - the Bolt's map just doesn't have the detail required. The main thing for me is does the Roam have a suitable map. If yes, I...

They've changed the checkpoints? I've a train ticket for Inverness indended for this but not bothered about a gravel route. If I was, I would have gone for their xduroScotland ride later in the year
