Re: Stabilising the Alpkit Fuel Pod (or other top tube bag)
I've got one from nologo Bikepacking and it has two straps on the face that touches the steerer tube/stem. One goes below the stem and one goes above (granted I've left just over a centimetre above the stem for "future faffing"). Don't have any problems with stability.

Pleased to see you've got yours MountainBaker, that means mine must be imminent too!
Do the oval rails look like they'll fit in a normal seatpost ok? I've got a Morgaw seapost too but I might want to put it on other bikes/posts.

I've just been browsing on STW so i thought I'd come in with a typically uninformed "I've read this but no experience" reply  http://www.wolftoothcycling.com/pages/asymmetric-tooth-profile This looks interesting to me, they seem to really have thought about the tooth profile, designi...

With a new baby in the house I'm looking more at ride 1000km and get two bivvy trips in. Good to have something to hope for :).

Re: Velocity Blunt 35 rims
Hi Ian, i got the hookless ones and set them up tubeless easily enough (30mm width). One of them has a wrap of gorilla tape (tyre a much tighter fit) and one just has yellow Stans tape. The Gorilla tape one went up with just a track pump, not noticed much difference between them in use though. Stu.

Yeah a flissure cone for my Lifeventure 450ml (or Alpkit MiTi mug with small amounts of water in it) on the 8g stove.
Keep meaning to make one myself but with another little one on the way and house stuff never find the time.

Be interested to see the difference between a normal windshield and a cone. Still dithering over making one.

Re: Bit OT spare phone battery
It's worth paying more for a decent one. The cheapy ones from eBay that have "eleventy million" mAh tend to die fairly quickly. I bought a genuine Samsung replacement one for my S3 for about £20 and a double capacity one that needed a new back for the phone. The double capacity is from &qu...

Re: New Joystick mk9
Yeah I think the new ones are all at full retail rather than discounted which makes them look very expensive! From what I can tell they seem worth it though. The helmet mount in particular looks great.
Haven't looked at the Axis will do some more research.

New Joystick mk9
Hi, New mk9 joystick has 750 lumens up from 400 and supposedly a wider beam. Was wondering if anyone had seen it? I figure the mk9 is somewhere between the mk8 and the Diablo (mk4) now, was trying to see which one it's close too. Fancy it as a head torch, commuter light and a "get me home"...

One of my mates reckons Bing maps to be the most up to date Satellite pics. Was certainly true of the full path around Loch Lyon that didn't show up on anything else.

I looked into getting that Specialized chain tool a while back. It looked like there were some limitations to it however: http://reviews.mtbr.com/just-in-specialized-swat-storage-water-air-and-tools They reckoned that you couldn't use it to put a chain pin back in, just remove a chain pin and use a ...
