Re: What Water Purification Tablets?

If anyone wants any oasis tablets, I may have accidentally ordered 20 strips of 10, rather than 20 tablets.... happy to give away before the BB200 start on Saturday...

Good idea - oasis tablets and high 5 zero it is for next weekend

Re: cheap packable down/insulated clothing ??

No idea if they do trousers, but I've an Uniqlo ultralight down jacket and it's a very good compromise between price, warmth and volume - particularly when in a sale. They go up to XXXL and are pretty generous sized, so no issue there either. https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/men/outerwear/coats-jackets/...

Re: The great British train scandal

I agree about the Spanish ones - just booked the high speed Barcelona to Madrid train for 2 adults & 2 kids, complete with reserved table seats, and it's £57 one way... which is probably less than the cost of petrol for the journey so all round excellent.

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Not decided if I'll ride it at bb200, probably not as I suspect I'll be on my stooge, but I had a play with the singlespeed today. "Mullet" setup seems popular on dh and enduro bikes, and I've a load of older stuff so have gone mini-mullet™ with a 26" rear wheel and 27.5" front. ...

Immense garage clearance, fat bike bits, some free bits etc.

Having a sizeable clear out in the garage, as I've somehow ended up with far too much bike stuff, and keep buying more! I'll try to attach photos, and add bits as I find them, but ask me and I'll get specific pics asap. I'll start with the free stuff : 8 & 9 speed cassettes, possibly shifters, c...

Not sure it counts as good enough quality, but I'm selling an on-one fatty trail frame, forks, cranks, wheels & tyres in 20" if that's any good?

I'm in for the second weekend, along with a friend who's not on here. Hadn't thought about the night before yet - probably end up being a stupidly early start from Sheffield (anyone want a lift?) but who knows... Me please! Given the username, you may well already be in the car... and if not then y...

Re: I am weak

You should be able to fit a sub-compact chainset, or even a MTB double chainset to get a lower range. You could also go for a bigger cassette (11-36, 11-40 or even 11-42) but might need a goat link or similar to clear it at the rear.

Thanks for that Shaf.

My son's a massive Shackleton fan, after they did a history session about him in junior school, so I've sent him the YouTube link and will no doubt receive a video review later!

We use them for most of our camps at my scout group, and the kids love them... most of them have the aptly named DD scout model, but I agree with the above that they're a bit short for a tall person. I'm a side sleeper, and find them as comfy as a thick air mattress, and comfier than a lightweight o...

I'm sure I've seen a previous reference to that Ousefleet one where the power line just crosses into it. Round my way, I reckon SK2683* and SK2973* are about as featureless as I'll get. *County boundaries don't count as physical features, do they? Not the most featureless, but I'd go for SK3990 for...

A friend of mine, who is a pretty handy ultrarunner, has run that a couple of times, and she found it super tough! Until I spoke with Nicky about it the first time, it was something I thought I'd fancy a go at (with hopelessly optimistic thoughts of a fun run finish) but it's ridiculous... And a_wes...
