Re: So, rigid forks?
Cheers all. I'll be giving the 470 a go. Like you say, static sag is a good starting point but never a true measure of where forks spend most of their time!
They're the cheaper of the two anyway. :D
Now, last thing is to look at big but fast tyres.

Re: So, rigid forks? - Revisited
I've decided to give a set of rigids a go. My next big question is axle to crown. The rebas I have on now are 510 a-c which is what the frame spec says it should have. Sat on the bike with my kit on I generally have 20 to 25mm of sag, descending its always 40mm to 100mm into the travel I guess. The ...

Re: rohloff weight conversion comparison
Have you seen the Tune rohloff shifter btw? :D I have. It looks rather nice. I was considering designing one to see how light I could make one but I'd have to take the shifter off and replace the cables to do it. So wont for a while. I've also seen the ti rear sprocket, I forget the manufacturer na...

Re: The post man's been ...
Yup. its 26.5 which I'm also very happy with. That steel english is really nice. It impresses me how light a proper custom steel bike can be. The fork and the Rohloff are big lumps to be honest. The fork is 1720g and the hub is err, lots. I wrote down the weights somewhere. I'll do a post on it. I'm...

Re: The post man's been ...
ta. I'm very pleased. Still waiting on the rear rotor to show up so its only getting a ride up and down the road today. which is annoying. normally I'd go for a ride anyway but snow means slippy so best not. I'm a bit poorer, but no where near as you might think. Frame and rohloff and spokes are the...

chain lengths etc
sooo, I expect the singlespeeders can help me out. I've been messing about building the rohloff bike up and have found that with my chosen 16T rear and 37t front I have a small chain issue. Fitted as it is now theres about 3mm tyre clearance to the little chainstay brace. If I add another link, 26mm...

Re: brake hose / bar bag interfaces
its annoying than it should be isnt it! Apparently, so im told my M785's are different again. Although I'm not convinced. Its difficult to find full specs for the fittings for various brakes. Thinking back I'm sure I've seen hopes with banjo fittings, possible some older formula ones. The hunt is on.

brake hose / bar bag interfaces
So, Brake hoses are annoying me. Sounds strange I know, but basically, with the levers positioned where I like them they are angled down quite a bit. This means that when I fit a bar harness the brake hoses come under considerable pressure. So far they have survivied but I don’t know if they would l...

Theres a lot of wooly areas in the rules I think, or at least a lot of people arguing over it :D I recall reading somewhere that some people class talking to family on mobile phones as support (emotional) and others feel its fine for familys to show up in town and have a meal together, give encorage...

Re: Most flexible gear cable outer?
You could use brake outer for the required section, its coiled steel and much flexier as I'm sure you know. Your shifting feel would certainly suffer. You might need to overshift a little bit to make it shift if you use too long a section. I’ve done it on a road bike before, temporarily, I forget wh...

They 'should' be pretty similar due to the construction. Straight steel wires encased in plastic etc.
