Re: HLC 2015
I can offer the opinion as a Brit who traveled this year to complete the HLC
I felt 100% safe at all times ... in fact I would go as far as to say I always felt welcome and at ease.
Israeli hospitality is the best in the world !
This is a serious and very rewarding challenge

Re: Rovaniemi 150
Alpinum, Thanks again will experiment with some of your footwear suggestions ... as its a one shot ride to the finish I think there are some compromises that can be made over riding something like Iditarod where you need to maintain the effectiveness of your kit for multiple days. Tyres I haven't th...

Re: Rovaniemi 150
Thanks Alpinum I am going to try these .. http://www.lakecycling.com/shoes/mxz303/ Sized at least 1 or 1.5 times bigger than normal with VBL and wool socks or alternatively some thick seal skin socks ( they seem to work like a VBL and wool sock in one). I am also planning on either modifying an over...

Re: Rovaniemi 150
Ian, yeah it's not a cheap outing .... I had to sell a bike to part fund it.
The sleeping bag is I think the biggest outlay though I am sure someone could loan you one.
I have some snowmobile boots I used for Arrowhead 135 you can have if you come play :)

Re: Rovaniemi 150
Yeah rider #20 :)
I ran flat pedals for Arrowhead 135 back in 2010 but this time I wanna try spd pedals so ordering some Lake MX303 then will figure an overboot should it get really cold.
Plan to ride an Ari Cycles custom frame, will be running it with least amount of kit possible

Yeah I have entered.
Will be running 1x11 on a new frame I am having made.
This week I will be ordering footwear :)
Alpkit will be supplying the bulk of the rest of my kit

Re: Salsa Warbird Frameset (56cm)
Wow you guys are showing a lot of restraint .. I thought the Warbird would of been an easy sell.
I may also be able to offer it as a complete bike for £850 with Sram Apex white instead of stock Tiagra.

Sounds interesting
I work in Newcastle city centre very close to the train station and I like the idea of a 'Desk to Bivi to Desk' midweek overnighter :)

Re: Holyland Trail ... Blue dots
I am still in Israel but thought I would upload a selection of the shots I took. I have to echo Steve's comment on how tough this event is ... Went thinking a 100 miles a day would be achievable but so much singletrack and climbing really slowed us down. Totally blown away by the quality of the trai...

Re: Windstopper jacket recommendations
Worth keeping an eye on my local bike shops site as being local to Scott they buy in all the end of year clothing and do some crazy deals ...
Startcycles.co.uk
You have to live with the Scott branding though it can be subtle on some items but fabrics are proper .. all goretex and windstopper
