I'm the same. Regular weighing is useful as a way to remember there's actually quite a lot of fluctuation daily due to a range of factors

Re: Apparently this bothy is on the HT550, which is it?

It's not a bothy so much as a wildlife hide/shelter. I've stayed in it a couple of times, but was very aware I might get told to bugger off as we had to move the table and benches aside to have space to lie down and wondered whether we'd get a late night or early morning rude awakening if the estate...

Re: GPS unit for touring

As a long term phone navigation user I've no experience, but have been wondering about a wahoo element bolt (mtb bundle) as my birthday is coming up. Anyone got any comments on them? They seem possibly better than the equivalent garmin option from read reviews. Got to say I'm tempted not to bother a...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

Yeh this.... As for the protein thingy - my only reason for increasing my intake via powdered drinks is to attempt to burn fat instead of muscle when running a decent calorie deficit over a good few days. Be interested to here how you find the Huel, though having looked into it before I don't think ...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

Yeh I'm not taking that much, but it's helping me get to 170-190g and I'm 112kg just now, and shrinking 😁. IIRC the rda is only 50g but that essentially a minimum for sedentary folk. I'm not athlete, but last month did 40 hours between, cycling, walking, swimming, plus I do some body weight stuff. W...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

I have tuna and chicken breast 😁 and steak, pork and lamb. Well from what I've read including various endurance forums a higher than the minimum RDA is necessary and aids recovery. I have some 'proper' books to, but cba looking just now as I'm just back from a rather chilling swim 😂 Not saying I'll ...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

Gone to the dark side and I ordered some protein powder (bulk powders whey isolate 90 doesn't have sweeteners etc) as I'm finding it hard to get the recommended 1g/lb body weight with a reduced diet, and even I get sick of too much meat and it may help any hunger. At 50 I don't want to be losing mus...

Re: Get-me-home advice - stripped crank

Happened to me, drive side on sram cranks. Luckily, though I was on holiday, I was not in the middle of a bike packing trip. It seemed impossible for the local bike shops to order (through their stockists)and fit them for me, so good old wiggle was engaged after some faff with the LBS saying they ge...

1/1/21: 117.7kg 8/1/21: 116.8kg 0.9kg (practically 2lbs) down this week after the big pre-official start loss so I’m happy with that. Trying to be sensible enough with food intake that I don’t break and binge, and sensible enough with exercise that I don’t bust and binge on food being tired, achy an...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

Yeh it is a big ask, but I've pretty much done it before with low carb and exercise. Though with the limits on exercise it may not work out, especially as I'm trying to be more sensible with what I do. Actually been having counseling to help sort things out to avoid the binge/bust on both aspects wh...

Re: Fat Fighters 2021

Starting again at a nearly all time high of 117.7kg after a succession of crap health years and then 2020. I've essentially just been told to manage my heart issues as it's not bad enough to warrant the risk of more invasive exploration. Essentially means not to hard or too long, something I just ne...

Re: Swimming

I'm still sea swimming in Shetland, in my speedos, but it was bloody nippy this weekend and only did 15min max each day. Not sure I could hack it while camping or biking at this time of the year as it took me a good while to fully rewarm on Saturday and Sunday. Will look out for it on iplayer :-bd
