Re: Green Steel

It's not for cycling to the shops! However, even on the road many riders seldom use the drops due to an overly 'racey' position. Off road, wide, shallow drops set high is the way foward. :-bd Infrequent use of the drops is more to do with the riders lack of conditioning/core stability and/or the ri...

One of the few things Trek have made that have been perfect.
The 69er
The original Fuel
The gen 1 Stache
I'd like to add 920 to that list. After 20+ years in the bike trade and many bikes I can't fault it for what I need.

I think the idea is to minimise the potential for us to have to call upon the assistance of others ie by coming a cropper in a remote place As husband to a frontline NHS superstar this is exactly the thing. Not just to spare a limited resource, people and ppe - but also to protect them and ourselve...

Re: What's your favourite 700 gravel tyre?

WTB Ventures are the sweet spot between grip and speed for me. I have 700x50 in my Trek 920 for New Forest roads and Gravel - the grrr is on the chunkier side!

Re: Who’s appreciating riding their bike?

Yes very much so. There are no symptomatic folks in our household nor vulnerable/shielded so practice Social Distancing on all rides. Lucky to be 2 and a half minutes from the gravel tracks in the New Forest. Often build the Tesco run into the ride, leave my lock attached to a railing on the way out...

Re: closing national parks, and imposing fines?

New Forest Car Parks are all locked up - this is after last weekend disobedience of the Social Distancing and Essential Travel rules. The police had to tell people to go home and #staylocal. What happens after this weekend if the ignorance and selfishness repeats itself we will have to wait and see....

Re: Gravel porn

Lovely bikes. My trek920 (drop bar 29er) mirrors my roadbike position with 50mm ish of drop from saddle to bars. This was determined in a bike fit and takes into account my flexibility and core strength seeking to balance efficiency and comfort. It's good to have an engaged core, and glutes and hams...
