Re: Bivvy a month 2020.
Should the BAM Oversight Committee* be considering measures to help those who can't bivvy due to Covid-19? Maybe a system of Universal Bivvy Credits for those affected by travel restrictions or self-quarantine?

I'm not sure holding the Italians responsible for Taiwanese brakes is entirely logical.

Re: Seatpost, or stem change?
Having been doing yoga for a bit over a year now, I've found that my core strength has improved, and this has led to much more comfort on the bike (whereas previously I'd develop lower back pain and sore shoulders from hunching too much). However, I find that my posture has lengthened while on the b...

I've still got my CCF mat from the first time I went camping with the Woodcraft Folk. I guess mid 80s?
Also, my POD Sacs (pre-Planet X era) rucksack from 1998 is still going strong.

Re: North Yorkshire on line map
Sorry if I'm missing something obvious, but what does that do that the OS layer in Bing maps doesn't?
I find the Derbyshire one useful though, it has an option to highlight ROWs, cycle routes, SSSIs etc.

Ha!
Also in DD's defence, it does look like the northern part of the route is a pretty good fit for the watershed of the purple river basin flowing down to the Humber estuary

Re: The commoditisation of..... bikepacking... discuss
An interesting read. I'm not quite sure what it adds to the debate, but I was reminded of this quote from Frank Herbet's Dune series: “Most civilisation is based on cowardice. It's so easy to civilize by teaching cowardice. You water down the standards which would lead to bravery. You restrain the w...

I've got one. I suspect the limits of its usefulness are dictated by my ability to put it up (or not) rather than its quality (which seems fine and dandy).

Re: Bivvy a month 2020.
The classic combination of crap weather and life getting in the way meant that I needed the leap day to fit in a last gasp dash for a night outdoors. It was already dark when I left home, and the blue skies of earlier in the day had been chased away by Jorge, who brought squally showers with him. Un...

If you undo it a bit, it'll probably start leaking air (and reducing the the pressure) before it's unscrewed enough to achieve missile status.
