Re: FS Stuff (bags, bladder, shoes, grips, tyres, jacket, etc.)

Shaf, the hose came with my new grey Evoc bum bag, and I think it's just to match the colour. It's not insulated. Will definitely go in one parcel, so just £3.50 postage either way.

Will PM You both, cheers.

Re: OMN (Yet Another Post-Viewranger Navigation app thread)

Here we are again... Several instances of OA losing a recorded track, losing the position signal (big straight lines in a recorded track), and p***-boiling sluggishness in the interface got me back to looking for an alternative before I ended up shelling out more cash for this least-worst option. I ...

I'd be up for that Dave :-bd Edit: Lindisfarne? You're not supposed to wild camp, but people have on the beach. :-bd Lindisfarne could be an option, sure we wouldn't be the first. Would probably avoid in the school holidays, gets very busy. I assume there would be some nice options from Dunbar too ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

I'm not saying I will, but I might. I've always said I won't BAM, but if I happen to bivvy in every calendar month, I guess I might as well claim it, and a couple of good nights out last month have made me think I should get out more often. Justin, we could try one from somewhere between us on the e...

Not sure failed is quite the right word... 200 miles is a decent innings at this time of the year!

Well done anyone who completed or just gave it a good go.

Can't help I'm afraid, but worth looking out for an old Longitude or similar Genesis. Should be a fair bit cheaper than the likes of Surly and Stooge, but nice enough and will do the same job.
I’ve given up my job and planning on heading out to cycle the Baja divide
Good call BTW :-bd

Thanks for reminding me that I'd started writing mine and then forgotten about it! Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

The shortest day is now behind us, so that's got to be cheery. Got the wine (bargain £3.50 Bordeaux from Aldi) mulling and frozen homemade mince pies warming for my partner who's last day at work is today. Mine was yesterday, and you've reminded me I haven't set my out-of-office. Never mind, no-one ...

It was a shame that the lower cloud didn't break up more, and that I only had my phone since the proper camera's playing up, but still.

I remember seeing what I think were noctilucent clouds on a summer bivvy once. In the Lakes I think. One of the pros of a bivvy bag!

Binannual solstice walk-up-a-hill-to-look-at-a-rock yesterday morning (a day early because my partner was off work). Sunrise was underwhelming, but some fantastic cloudscapes with some great nacreous formations. This tradition is always a good reminder to get out when there's many reasons not to, be...

That's strange, given the solstice isn't till about 3 tomorrow morning. What's the relevance of East 17? "Stay another day"? I guess that would explain the prematurity :???:

Thanks Shaf! I think visibility up there is the exception rather than the rule. So many times I've driven up and down the stretch of the M6 just to the west going to and from the Lakes, and it might be nice everywhere else but you can see the cloud clinging to the edge of the Pennines. Bin There Dun That

Having missed this year's Scottish Winter Bivvy due to work, my friend Morne suggested we go up to Greg's Hut on Cross Fell this weekend. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but the forecast foretold of winds up to 70mph which made our plans to start in Weardale and ride through Teesdale and dro...
