Some stuff for sale

All, looking to clear the garage of stuff I have bought or been keeping and will never use: Lightweight 26 inch wheelset - Roval Control SL's - around 1470grams the pair. The rear has been rebuilt after being buckled using the original spokes and nipples, so I only ever used it as a spare. But it ha...

Re: New Joystick mk9

I am also looking at these. The Axis light looks like a light between Joystick and Diablo as well.
The Mk8 Joystick looks like a bargain at Rutland Cycling (or on ebay). Also the Mk1 Axis looks a bargain, but both seem eclipsed by the newer versions - which also have a price tag to match!

Ian
try to get it registered as a motorhome (although I think the regs are changing/have changed) or you will be limited to van speed limits (60 on dual carriageways). You might need a cooker for this to be possible though!

Love a ride with a purpose! Good trip, and camper vans are great fun - how's it done out inside?

Re: Will I die?

Can you film it (from a safe distance) when you do so your relatives can post it up here? Seriously what you are considering is pretty daft. Gas is quite flammable and piercing the canister is likely to end in lots of gas going everywhere. And you are unlikely to be able to control where it goes. Sp...

Re: Do you sometimes wish you'd taken a different path?

That sort of life has no safety net. You are really on your own most of the time, which is great when the going is good, but when the going is bad and you're cold, hungry, thirsty and tired it must suck. It's a fantastic romantic idea but in reality I do like having a home, partner, kids, etc ( it's...

JoshVegas have a read of "Destiny in the Desert" by Jonathan Dimbleby. It's the full account of the desert war in North Africa and does show the difficulties the guys went through. It also shows how strategic that part of the war was, even though Hitler may not have realised it at the time...

Neil, I know where you were! There's a bit of exploring to be done in those woods, and from the top of the track you were on is one of Warwickshire's best descents! ( there aren't many so it doesn't take much)

If you head over this way again give me a shout - would be good to meet up!

A Solarstorm X2 LED front light - £15 - I don't know how they can do it for that. It was rude not to buy yet another front light (I can't think when I will use it though as I have more lights than I know what to do with) And some Endura bib shorts from the LBS (with vouchers I got for winning a coup...

Re: How often do you clean your bike?

Road bikes - whenever dirty, but I do hate a mucky bike

Mountain bikes - given that most rides make a MTB dirty I guess I clean them after each ride (unless it's a dry ride and the bike stays clean)

I think shiny bikes go faster as well.....

Re: HTR 550 Grand Depart Qualification

Lakeland200 is a cracking ride. I did most of it last year and it is possible in a long day, but for the HTR you will want some bivvy practice so you could do the ride with a short bivvy and still manage sub 30 hours reasonably comfortably.

Good luck

Re: Tyre/Inner Tube Help

Is it a Presta valve in a Schraeder hole? You can get little plastic bungs to take up the spare hole. Can't see it being that mind - the other thing is how do you attach the pump? Do you rip it off or carefully remove it? My guess though would be the tyre moving on the rim. Can you try a different t...

Where to start:
New XTR 10 speed shifter, cassette , KMC x10SL chain, XT rear mech so I can convert the race hardtail to 1x10, and

New Ultegra rear mech, cassette, and KMC chain for the road bike, and

Some bits to fix the shower, but they are a bit off topic....

I regularly road ride with a guy in his mid 60's. He's British track champion or something. He's a fantastic road racer as he has a talent for being in the right place in a group at the right time. And he looks 15 years younger!

Enjoyed that - as above, it's a refreshing style that shows personality rather than polished video making skills.

And Ian, that KOM was mine - I don't care how many farmers were made unhappy in the process! Going to have to beast myself going to work in the morning now!

Rich, stick it on eBay with the original wheel as it looks really tidy. And then sell or keep the dynamo wheel. If I wouldn't get shot at home I would buy it off you and eBay or retro bike it.....
