Re: Creating routes for Etrex.....sorry...

May have answered my own question already. In bikehike it gives you the option of saving my test route as a gpx route or gpx track. It needs to be a track don't it?

Creating routes for Etrex.....sorry...

I apologise, it's probably been done to death ;-) Ok, so this is where I'm up to... I've got an Etrex30, used it to follow pink lines around the BB200 and used gpx files from other sources. Please treat me like a child, explain in simple terms. I make fings from wood and use the computer to watch vi...

Cumbria Way... well our version of it

It's in the diary for 3 weeks time. Leave van in Carlisle and train back from Ulverston. Suprised how little info. I can find on bike versions of it. No worries it's all pretty straightforward. I think we'll just roadie it until we get to the Northern Fells and then either approach Skiddaw House fro...

Moel Prysgau Bothy and trails I should aim for?

'ow do. So whilst waiting for my hernia to mend I have plenty of time to plan some Springtime trips.. I'm not necessarily looking for full routes, but which trails should we not miss out (and which direction!) Heading to the bothy from Rhayader there looks like tons to go at, but the final approach ...

Never stayed in a Scottish bothy, the only one I've been in is the "secret" one, which we stumbled across last year......goodness only knows how ;-)

Re: Meths: 101

Ah good, been waiting for this topic to come along! I made a beer can stove a while back, which worked ace in the kitchen. Fast forward a week and using it for real, the result was it was a thirsty, dirty little b@gger. I think my theory that the foil windshield was wrapped to close to the pot, coul...

Re: BB200 Route Details

Can i just ask if it's possible to change the route colour on my etrex30 from grey to something more visible?
I managed it on Basecamp, it's now pink. Can I do this and reload it onto my etrex? I couldn't find a way of doing it on the device itself.

Re: Bivy bags and condensation...

OK, looking back on it I failed on... Points 1&2! I stopped riding and within 15 mins I was in my bag. It was a BIG mistake to put my sweaty t-shirt and shorts inside the bivy bag. Then I put the bag over my head "just for 10 mins to warm up". Before I knew it the top flap of the bag w...

Bivy bags and condensation...

Now I'm not the most experienced bivy bag user, and seeing as the BB200 is not far off I went out this weekend for a little sleepover. Conditions were perfect, clear, light breeze. I followed the Pennine Bridleway south from Saddleworth to Roych Clough, and at about 10.00ish I found a flat bit of gr...

Cheers all.
Ok problem... I've downloaded the gpx file from self supported and the route shows up complete on Garmin Basecamp, lovely. When I send it to my Etrex30 it's only displaying part of the route. What have I done wrong??

Peak 200 ITT. Anyone got a strava link?

Haven't managed to find a GPX for this route, apart from, plotted on a map in the lounge type jobs. These are ok but tend to cut corners and straight line junction where detail is needed.
It's a bit soggy at the moment, but thought I'd try a chunk of it this Saturday/Sunday...

BB200.. GPS preferences?

I've never used a GPS before. The BB200 would appear to be a good time to use one! I'm keeping it simple, Garmin, no one else. One of the "hiking" models seems to be the best choice due to being able to use AA batteries. So...eTrex 30/Oregon 600 or Dakota 20? Or, is a breadcrumb one going ...
