Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024

Sorry to read that Loki. Could you get out on foot with bivi kit? I've been thinking of doing a hiker bivi recently, should have added it to the list here. Since we all have the gear I wonder how often many of us get out on foot rather than the bike. Thanks Dyffers and Psling. Mark Rigby is someone...

Re: Happy New Year, and plans for 2024

More regular 2 night trips from my door into Wales would be good, around the Brecons and Black Mountains. Riding to Eurobike again if I can swing it as a work product test trip (it would be, honest). The new venue is in Frankfurt which isn't as nice as Friedrichshafen as a destination but the ride ...

Oh wow, there's some good stories here of recent BAMs that I haven't managed to read yet... looks top stuff anyway :-bd This is just a quick one, for evidence, and so as not to hold up the end of year proceedings... Here's me, hammock in wood, which has since I last used it had the addition of a bit...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Tucked up and cosy in my hammock, fairy lights up, windy but dry, with a strong blonde Belgian for company ( come on, surely that's been done before?!? ), not to mention two fresh cream apple turnovers - what a way to see out what has been a very good year :-bd

Have almost finished work for the year, but at least the last hour or so will be at home, having been kicked out of the office by the ever patient cleaners .... Cheery because I've just bought myself a ticket for Drumsheds in London for Easter Saturday... a little techno indulgence all for myself, j...

Re: Wildlife

Mrs PB and I decided to have a Christmas Day walk up a local mountain, the 750m peak of Cabrafeixet. Just as we reached the top a pair of golden eagles took flight from a few metres away. I managed to get this shot of one of them before they got too far away. https://i.imgur.com/KYYMPlS.jpeg Beauti...

So many complex and ambivalent emotions involved with this whole Christmas thing ... Whether or not it floats your (gravy) boat, thanks for your great company for another year, and hope we will all find something to do with this day that makes us feel at least a little bit good. May take the canoe o...

Re: Todays ride

Just to reassure everyone that I haven't gone completely over to the dark side.... This was last weekend, a very pleasant bimble around the track on the top right hand side above Talybont reservoir, just felt great to be getting out there again after what was about three weeks on and off of having a...

Re: Audax Tips?

Maybe an odd time to be posting this (aren't we all supposed to be waist deep in mince pies by now?) (I've just had one, with a cup of coffee and a tangerine to follow), but it's just a follow on from what I wrote above, and it feels like some sort of satisfying completion to me.... After November's...

I was soooo wanting to take a photo, but thought that would be classed as unprofessional...same as taking up the kind offer of being "taken up the mountain"

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

It was actually Thursday, but never mind, close enough... I was at work, on a home visit in Ystradgynlais to seen an old lady with knackered knees 'n hips about a possible stairlift... completely unremarkably looking council house, nice lady, etc.. Checked with her about what sort of heating they ha...
