Re: When?????

There is no equivalent clause in the Scottish regulations or associated guidance. I'm wrestling with myself over what I can/n't do currently, reading the regs and guidance for a steer. We dont have that reg but we do have: Restrictions on movement 5.—(1) Except to the extent that a defence would be...

Re: Q about displaying tracks - Garmin Dakota 20

Today I resurrected my old Dakota, tried to add a kmz file to Custom Maps, and failed. I thought I'd post on here for any help, and then found my post from 2013 about having the same unresolved problem then. Does anyone know how to get a kmz file onto a garmin that doesn't involve me launching it at...

Re: The Sandstone (No) Way

I did it a few years ago. The Strava title was:
Death by a thousand gates.

Open a gate through cattle-churned ground. While doing so, looking at the farmers field you'll have to plow though and another gate at the other end of the field. And repeat

Re: Bit late to the party but which Aliexpress shelter should I chose?

I bought this last summer but afraid i've not actually tried it yet. LanShan 1 https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000303876219.html But it cost £66, partly due to a site-wide sale that Ali regularly have. It has a few ties and lines that are chunky and could be replaced with lighter lines. And I recal...

Re: Tell me about budget turbo trainers.

Ray, I think it is worth getting the smart one from Halfords. Ive got that too. Dumb ones may as well be a £50 exercise bike / clothes horse. 'Grand Road Tours' is free to use - I've not set that up yet though so cant comment. If you get something from Halfords, I'll meet you with my British Cycling...

I read one report of that, I think on a Gravel FB Group, cannae mind the name.

The strap wasn't continuous, looped through the helmet inside, but a left strap and a right strap, which detached

Re: Diary of a Randonneur - Goals now listed

Phew. Aiming for a randonneur 5000 in your first full year doing these does seem ambitious. Doing the sums, I think that doing 300, 400, 600, 1000 and ECEing all of the remaining eight 200s to instead be 300 will get the standard Randonneur and RRTY .... but you'd STILL be 100 shy of 5000. Sounds to...

I can't see how the 'cockpit' [STW patter] could be set up in order to accommodate all the different hand positions. The same as how one's position will be off if one simply switches drop bars for flat bars (or vice versa) without also changing stem length/rise, stack height, saddle height and fore/...

I think I know where that is (I stay in Edinburgh and have done that part of the route many times). Ive never seen a sign. I was last there in June, I think. Just crack on and ignore signs or locked gates, it isn't private property and one is allowed responsible access

Re: SRAM mech compatability

I am struggling to understand which bits are new and which are the existing parts: you added a front mech and a new left hand shifter but it is the rear shifting that you are now not happy with (yes?) Rear shifting with SRAM can be affected by the cable routing. What is the direction of the cable co...

Before I'd even seen the above comments, I'd intended to write: "death by a thousand gates was my Strava title at the time". Not a favourite route - aside from the gates, it mostly seems to involve riding through a farmer's field to the next gate. Have a gpx to follow as the markers aren't...
