Re: Box Brownie Nostalgia Corner
What a cracking pic there, thank you HT. I do love a nice cold hard piece of steel between my legs. Those days it was carbon in pencils and aluminium in saucepans where they both belong. Am I the only one finding those ultra-slim seat-tubes oooohhhh so sexy and strokeable? Oh. I am. Ah well. Loving ...

Yeah Iceland was corking. And cos I like doing things the hard way I went there and back by boat. Er, via the Shetlands (*) which took 2 days, and back via the Faroes which took 5 days cos the boat went off somewhere else (Denmark?) and came back again before returning to Aberdeen. Anyway, no more p...

Very slinky those are Pickers. "foresee a day of skinned shins" - some spoonerism possibilities there I think.... and I bet you couldn't say it fast five times. Anyway, today I am mostly opening parcels of: - "Bikepacking" by McJannet - it's alright I suppose. Bit too much "...

Thanks Vood. "nappies" - I reckon some of those could have come in useful for me on some of the rides, I was cacking myself on some of the downhills with my cantilever brakes blowing up in flames.... Still, I think I can genuinely say that was the best 500 quid I've ever spent in my life (...

Box Brownie Nostalgia Corner
Been rootling about amongst old snaps, as you do, and thought it might be entertaining to see what everyone else has stashed away in their vaults. It's always tedious when people flash vast numbers of holidays pics etc at you, so will try to only do a couple. The more embarrassing the better obvious...

Re: The post man's been ...
It's the whole business of my bike being in two places at exactly the same time which I'm battling with at the moment. Also I'm usually pretty good at measuring my momentum so that means I've no idea what my position is - ie. I'm well and truly lost which sounds normal for me.

"vein of previously undiscovered geekery". Absolutely. I reckon you could string pretty much any letters and digits together with a "-" and maybe a "/" and you've got a real computer or processor of some sort. Geekery? Just don't start me on my Quantum Theory of Bikepac...

"Bear in mind I'm not Rad to the Power of Sick, I'm barely even Rad to the Power of Tense Nervous Headache" But are you fair chuffed Rich? And do you send gnarly flowing switchbacks? Is your frame stiff or plush, or both at the same time in defiance of all logic? As far as I can see,...

'Coded efficiently'. Nail on head. 1977 DECsystem-10, 1Mb (yes, one), me and **127** other users. 2016 Windoze filth, 4Gb, and it can't even support ME never mind 127 others. 'Graphics' you say? Pah.

Re: Clips or flats?
For some reason that it's probably best not to pry too deeply into, I've got one spare clipless pedal in my shed. How about I post it to you then you could have one pedal clipless and one flat. Then have a couple of rides and whichever foot feels best is the one you go with. I spose the problem ther...

Ey up Rich! Well I only had flats in our lovely LHCB group cos I thought everybody else would have 'em and I didn't want to be the one labelled as the STW nerd in our group for having clipless :)

"Arriva ex Shrewsbury going to Caersws are always really good," - agreed. To/from WRT was fine. A few local people did one/two-station hops with bikes and no booking, stayed with bikes, guard seemed happy. When I travel from Milton Keynes, I now tend to phone Arriva direct to book on their...

Set of Exped UL drybags, XS/S/M/L. Being a bear of small brain, I just have to work out whether they keep dry things dry when it's wet outside, wet things wet when it's dry outside, wet things drier when it's wet outside, dry things dry erm, er.... Maybe if something needs to stay ultra-dry, you can...

Another good thread Stu! Can't do bananas personally - had a bad experience with one as a child... too traumatic... don't like to talk about it.... As befits my old fart status, I'm very sceptical about all these "recovery drinks", "electrolyte tabs", et al. I'm sure Greg'll corr...

Top effort there for Air Ambulance, Stu. Also interesting to think how much the general local economy benefitted from the onslaught. For example, since I brought little food etc I spent a fair old whack round various emporiums. In return, never mind the goods/services, I benefitted inestimably from ...

Post-WRT : The Twilight Zone
Sorry to start another WRT thread but this is about "after WRT", and I need some sage advice. I’ve always thought it’s not the case that the “lunatics” inside the asylum are looking out, but of course the real lunatics are outside looking in . In the same vein, having been away in the REAL...

Yeah OCD here I confess. Don't do miles/heights/etc but like to know weights, as IanF says it helps to work out what you do/don't need. But of course the do/don't changes every trip. One weight that's easy to sweep under the carpet - apart from one's own carcase - is worn clothes. As I wondered in a...
