Re: Wayfarer Centenary: a weekend of bike rides & lantern sl
At least, it is cycling as I understand it, for my conception of the pastime includes much besides main roads and secondary roads and much beyond the propelling of a bicycle. And, though I am almost a "one-pastime man", I fling wide the boundaries of that pastime and include whatever is i...

Re: Map reading.....info
I actually mentioned to someone the other day that the WRT would probably be much more popular if you removed the planning / navigation element and just handed out gpx files for people to follow ... maybe there should be two options? Interesting point Stu. IMO one of the probable reasons for lack o...

They do seem similar. The AK one has more weight of down but not such high insulation quality down. It also has harder wearing material. That is why it is half as heavy again for a similar temperature rating. The MH one is lighter weight, has higher quality down (though less of it) and is more packa...

Re: Unethical Outdoors - Instagram
There has to be a balance between enjoying the great outdoors and being party to destroying that very same thing. We are all guilty of doing things that can potentially damage the very thing we mentally wish to protect even though we are more aware of LNT than many. Every time we share a trail with ...

Like Bob says, BH weekends are a premium and will always be the busiest in the events calendar to accommodate the extra day(s). I remember in the early days of WRT wanting to do it but being committed to doing the Dyfi Enduro with a regular gang - that was in the days when you got an invite to the D...

Agree with Stu, that looks a good buy at that price. Handled with care it should give a lot of fun nights out.

Re: Keeping feet warm while wet
Depends how quickly you're moving. If it's a multi-day not against the clock, take boots and socks off to cross rivers then dry feet before re-booting. OK, means carrying a pat-towel and maybe even a pair of jandals but they pack easily and don't weigh a huge amount. Bit of a pain if you're crossing...

Very illuminating, sounds like a bright start to the day...
It's one of those bright, crispy mornings here. Good frost, sun shining, day off work. Boots and Lowe Mountain Cap are in the van ready, off for a walk up The Skirrid now then a cuppa at The Golden Kettle. No bikes involved.

Re: Bar ends on loops? How wrong is it?
After trying a pair of Crane Creek ends this afternoon, I can confirm that while it nearly works, there's just a bit too much backsweep. Could really do with some ends that are angled in slightly towards the centre. I often ride with my palms resting on the tips of the bar, so thought it'd be worth...
