I'm up for a go Shaf, though broken ribs just now mean it'll be a few weeks yet.

160 male entrants for 35 places I hadn't heard that. Not great odds at all in that case, either from the off or via any reserve list. That also makes for 120 latent ITT attempts, assuming the group start wasn't the be-all and end-all. If I'm not the only one now thinking of going down that route ne...

50:50 gender split - that's a great effort and hopefully a little bit of pay back for all the 'under the radar' efforts Alan puts in.
Good luck with the prep folks.

My old Bontrager dropper gave up recently, so ordered a Fox Transfer job from Wiggle, as it was about the cheapest option around. Β£109 and came with a trigger!

Sat here looking at the weather, I'm selfishly feeling less gutted about not being able to join you
Have fun chaps. I'll join you in spirit, with a dram or two by our stove (and if I need the loo, I'll be sure to go outside and hover over the compost heap)

Re: Bikepacking / ITT specific coaching.

Some people gain a lot from being tutored for stuff. Paying someone to impart knowledge is a big part of their preparation and building the 'mental strength' to achieve/overcome. Knowing you can do it is a world away from hoping you can do it, and having someone assure you of that, alongside all the...

Yep, everyone's favourite nocturnal flying mammal. It was obviously dark at the time, so we didn't notice.

Re: Wildlife

About this time last year, myself and a mate had an overnighter at Kershopehead. Pedalling in from Newcastleton, we had a poke around an old outdoor ed centre. The pic below was me posing in the kitchen and my mate sent it to me today to point out the wildlife we'd not seen at the time. Can you spot...

Just rest your bars on your gloves, which you've taken off to work on the bike. Stops your gloves blowing away too :-bd

I'm hoping to clear the decks for this but up against dog duties, 'Dad's Party Bus' needs and a badminton match. For those who don't know the area around Greensykes, you'll probably pass Jamestown and the birthplace of Thomas Telford https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/t/thomastelford...

I've been really impressed with RAB Crank pants. Expensive, but can't fault them. Not waterproof, but just did a long weekend in the Cairngorms with bib longs underneath. Very comfy on their own when warmer.
