Re: WTD: 135/170mm hub or wheelset

I've a pair of on-one fatty wheels in that size, I was selling them as part of a full bike but need the space so would sell as just wheels or wheels & tyres. Probably after about £100 posted with tyres for them I think. Can include rotors and/or cassette for a little more. Are there any other bi...

I've exactly the same one, and it's one of my favourite tops. Not cheap at full price, but nice slim/long sleeved cut and excellent use of fabrics and design

Re: The great British train scandal

Have a great time Paul, I bet you didn't even need to book your bike on. 🤣🤣. I drove in the end so no messing about with trains. Good job as well as it was the weekend of the floods so I slept in the van or my tent would have been washed away. 👍👍 On a family trip, so no bike involved this time, but...

Re: The great British train scandal

I agree about the Spanish ones - just booked the high speed Barcelona to Madrid train for 2 adults & 2 kids, complete with reserved table seats, and it's £57 one way... which is probably less than the cost of petrol for the journey so all round excellent. Currently sitting going backwards at 29...

Late to the party on this one, but the idea of stopping on the way to work for a sunrise over rother valley and a breakfast sounds excellent... Photos hopefully to follow next week!

Re: Waterproof jacket recommendations

I'm a big fan of my OMM kamelika, but after 11 years it's relegated to sitting in the car boot as a spare - got a few holes, missing coating parts etc. I was going to buy another, but picked up some fairly cheap jackets in the Moore large sell off auction, pacamac but cut for cycling type, and that ...

Re: Baselayer recommendations?

Entirely synthetic, so maybe not ethically marvelous, but I'm a fan of the planet-x 365 base layers. just had a look, and they seem to be called carnac now Cheap, last for years and wick well so long as you wash them without any fabric conditioner. Might be psychosomatic, but I find the white ones b...

Re: Todays ride

Very pleasant, and surprisingly dry given last night's deluge, road ride on the gravel bike back from my parents' house in Cheadle Hulme to Sheffield. Plenty of hills, although compared to last weekend, they've lost their teeth! 57km, 900m+ climb in just under 2 1/2 hours. Got a little scared down w...

Re: Today's Run

Went to have a go at the Round Sheffield Run route. Took it easy, walked the steep bits, feeling pretty good until about the halfway mark when I rolled my ankle. Bah. Walked down to the main road and got rescued by my wife. Oh no - it's a lovely route, hope you recover fast and get round it soon......

Re: BB200 - a few thoughts.

How can a "challenge" event be "inclusive" for all abilities? Surely the whole point is for it to be hard and by it's nature too hard for some. That's no criticism of those who can't or don't (I'm in both categories) but it doesn't make it un-inclusive. Exactly! It's not uninclu...

Re: Todays ride

Given the impending storm, I decided to commute by bike yesterday and today. Bb200 induced tiredness and frozen feet be damned! I felt surprisingly good, but a bit like I was a car in Eco mode on Tuesday and this morning... Riding along perfectly happily, but the 45km round trip took about 15 minute...

Yep, first attempt, and seem to have picked a tough one to start with!

Another negative would be Simon getting COVID, so having nobody to share a lift with :(

And a positive is that feeling is starting to return to the feet, so hopefully no more damage done to previously frostbitten toes

BB200 lift offer

Anyone need a lift to Llanbrynmair tonight? There's a space in the car, coming from Sheffield. I'll be driving across the peaks, round Manchester, along the M56 and then down past Oswestry if anyone wants picking up en-route? I could re-route if it helps someone though. There's a lift back too, but ...
