Re: Camping stove
We've had a few different ones over the years. Started with a big double burner and grill, then got a Cadac safari burner. Have found that two of these is by far the most convenient: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B005LVFEWW/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1478858025&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX236_SY34...

Thanks Dan.
Had a look on the blog but couldn't find that hotel. Have you got a link or contact details?

So.... Morocco....
Can't seem to get the idea of a January/February trip to Morocco out of my head. Bearing in mind the time of year, the limited trip duration (5-7 days) and the reported spread of road tarmac am I best to plan a cx/gravel kind of ride or load up the Stooge? Marrakech or Agadir would work really as I'...

Agreed. Just a bit poor when athletes use BBC funded programmes to push their personal sponsorship.Pirahna wrote:Nothing wrong with Specialized, says the bloke with a Langster, Crux, 2 Stumpjumpers and wifey's Fate.

Re: Iceland trip.
Iceland always appears very barren whenever I see pictures and I think I've just realised why - trees, I never see any trees, don't they have any trees? Very few. More shrub like than tree. Very few animals either. The place seems so sterile. When we walked the Laugavegur, I was amazed that we coul...

I've got a g shock mud man.
It's bulky and ugly as anything but have had it several years now, rarely take it off and it works perfectly.

I'll look forward to reading a blog review then...
There's a place near me that sells them. Keep meaning to book a test ride but having too much fun riding my Stooge on my days off. Would be interesting to see how they both compare.

Re: "career breaks" or as I'd prefer to call it- buggering o
I wouldn't bother for 7 weeks unless you really are thinking about a new career. I take 3-4 weeks most summers and it goes so quickly that I wouldn't consider leaving a paid job for a few weeks holiday. If the company are that harsh, go sick for a couple of months with stress, have a break and then ...

Garmin Legend HCX
Used garmin legend HCX with bike mount (might have a couple of mounts kicking around. Works great. Few little scratches here and there as you'd expect for a used garmin. Uses AA batteries so perfect for bikepacking. It's this model: https://buy.garmin.com/en-GB/GB/sports-recreation/discontinued/etre...

Re: GPX routes - how to use help needed.
I'd say if you really plan to follow gpx routes then it's worth buying an Etrex 20 (just over £100 if you hunt around). If you find you don't use it you'll be able to get most of your money back by selling it. Etrex 20x is only £130 on Amazon today (ask me how I know ) My old Etrex Legend HCX...

For phone planning and keeping it really simple, download viewranger and buy whichever map tiles you want or the OS maps app and pay the yearly subscription.

Not really sure what you're looking for? Bikepacking.com has trip reports and ideas. I just tend to follow blogs and use Feedly to inform me of new posts. Not bikepacking but if you haven't read The book of the bivvy by Ronald Turnbull, it's a good place to start. Cordillera is supposed to be good t...

Re: Winter over shorts
I had an older pair of Tenn shorts. They lasted 3 rides before the crotch completely split open. I heard that this was a common theme and addressed in an update.
I've ordered a new pair to see if they last. Fingers crossed!

I've found for road bars, straps are sufficient. The lioness just doesn't sit right but I don't feel I really need it.
