Re: WTD: Garmin Edge 1030
Assuming you want to have OS mapping, isn't the 32 GB internal memory enough?

Re: Bar Bag Lower Restraint
I had a similar idea a couple of years ago, making it out of fairly thin aluminium plate meant that it needed to be mounted above and below the headtube to avoid bending when a bar bag was fitted. I also mounted my dynamo rectifier box behind it giving easy access to the switch for charging and ligh...

Re: Satelite Images for route plotting.
Have you looked at wikiloc? I've done a quick search for Bikepacking routes out of Marrakech and it came up with 6. The standard mapping looks ok with the option to download better, the satellite images seem clear enough too. Lots of riders that make up the core users of wikiloc ie Spanish and Frenc...

Re: Know anyone who has done this ??
Based on the very rough route map that appears on Tony's link on the original post, the route goes nowhere near Hungary anyway. You'd have to be pretty bad at navigating to end up there between Oslo and Paris!

For Cutthroat and Mukluk owners, Bikester.co.uk have Revelate full frame bags on sale 60% off already discounted prices making them about £60, large frame sizes only. For everyone else, Revelate gas tank top tube bags in blue, £25. Seems a good deal

Re: light extension?
Google "bicycle accessory mounting bracket " there's loads available, I'd send you a link to the ones on amazon but it's in Spanish. The plastic ones are a bit fragile, I'd pay a bit more and get an aluminium one with a proper hinge.

Re: light extension?
short piece of tube held in 2 clamps above the main bar.. It's a 20g Co2 cannister for inflating a tubeless tyre if all else fails. I've made an adapter with a short length of rubber hose so once the wheel is removed from the bike, it can be re-inflated without dismantling the garmin mount. I love ...

Re: light extension?
I made an extender for my Revo light, it should work on all Exposure mounts I guess. Basically it's a countersunk head screw up the middle of a piece of tube, in my case for added bling an offcut of carbon fibre tri bar extension, screwed into the light housing and loctited. https://i.imgur.com/MccW...

Padonbike +1 of this parish rode the MV last week, contrary to my predictions of cold and wet, we're having an autumn heat wave here with temperatures in the mid-late 20's. Looking forward to reading about their experiences. I'm so lucky to live less than 100km from bits of this route but actually t...

Strangely exactly the same thing happened to me in a pub in Dolgellau. Only difference is the incident happened 40+ years ago when I was a student in South Wales, I ran the outdoor activities society and we were on a hiking, climbing &drinking weekend around Cadair Idris. We walked into a pub an...

Re: Tubeless - your ritual
To be fair to PX which is a phase I thought I'd never say having worked there for 21/2 years, the wheels are made by Fulcrum and when I did my identical wheels that were OEM on a bargain Freeranger I bought at Christmas, the 25mm tape I used was absolutely fine and the 47mm Specialized tyres I bough...

Re: Tubeless - your ritual
That sort of makes sense and may cause the lifting of the tape as the escaping air gets between the rim outer and inner causing the back pressure you described to me. I'd still be inclined to use proper wide tape given the upcoming trip.

Re: Tubeless - your ritual
The £100 deal from Planet X? I've got these on my Freeranger gravel bike and they do have drain holes. I used 25mm wide tubeless tape which extends up the side of the rim a bit and they went up and more importantly stayed up 1st time. I'm using 47mm Specialized gravel tyres. If I'm right, it wouldn'...

Re: Tubeless - your ritual
Given it's road rims, it's not something daft like them being deep section with tiny drain holes in the section that are leaking air from the rim bed?

Re: Influencer parody - or is it?
Having worked for/with Germans for 25 years the humour is very different to British, they think irony is something you do to shirts and self deprecation makes you go blind. The humour is quite slapstick, the more telegraphed the better, hence the popularity of Benny Hill and Mr Bean. Wordplay and su...

Step 1, remove tyre from folded up state and leave for a bit to form into it's proper shape to straighten any sharp folds in the bead. Step2, rub IPA (not Indian Pale Ale) on the inner surface with something abrasive like wire wool or pan scourer to remove silicone release agent used my manufacturer...

Seconded for Acepac I've got both the large and medium and strangely the medium holds my phone better as it doesn't taper so much. It's this one https://www.bergfreunde.es/acepac-fuel-bag-alforja-para-bicicleta/?aid=7fc8ffc6db398848fd46ce9c750dfeb6&pid=10004&dsc=false&gclid=CjwKCAjwv4SaB...

This disused monastery is 8km from home, next to a mineral water bottling plant, also disused. Lots of lurid tales locally about it's history

The Via de la Plata is definitely on my list for next year, we were due to do it about now but my ongoing shoulder injury from falling off in June have scuppered multi day trips for now. I reckon 9 days riding should be about the right pace.
