Re: Cairngorm calling

Well it's pishing currently west of Aberdeen.... I'm planning on riding the Inner Loop as my first proper bikepacking trip, going to take it easy and include an overnight somewhere between Feshie & Morlich. Wednesday & Thursday looking best (for me at least). So if you see a couple of geezer...

Re: The post man's been ...

@firestarter: don't have calipers but both the Ranger and Trail Boss are obviously bigger than a NN 2.8 (I did a quick comp last night with my old front wheel). So that makes it likely to be a proper 3" tyre.

Re: The post man's been ...

TR: it is indeed. Proper three inch job B+ to boot.

Clearance on the chain to rear tyre at low gear is chuff all (gone SLX 2x11), might have to replace with 2.8" in time. Trail Boss definitely wider than a trailblazer for sure...

Plenty room up front though :-bd

Seen someone giving it beans coming through the lights on the Rob Roy bridge late afternoon TR  Picked up my new Rab Neutrino Endurance 200 from Craigdon Mountain Sports (thanks guys!) so I'll be toasty when I head out on my Inner CL trip in a couple of weeks. Re: First overnighter - your stories

My first overnighter was back around '90 and involved cycling in to Derry Lodge and camping by the river. It was a glorious July weekend so me and my mate thought that as we didn't have much room we could leave our sleeping bags in the car as we'd be fine... Oh. My. God. Needless to say we froze hal...

Re: Off topic: A BearBones lifestyle and minimalism.

For me the 'desire' for minimalism is a lot less than the desire to reduce unnecessary consumption. As a species we are raping and destroying our only home and once that's done, well, that's kind of it. I used to be a Low Carbon Consultant (well, I did the training at least) there was a simply based...

Re: Off topic: A BearBones lifestyle and minimalism.

I moved in with the (now ex) girlfriend & her son. My flat was bigger but the plan was buy a house together. I had to get rid of 2/3rds of all my possessions. I lived in Aberdeen and the housing market went mental. It took years to find a house. It was pretty big, at least double the size of the...

My rule is if I'm wearing Lycra then clipless is acceptable, anything else its flats.

I'm pretty much exclusively flats have been last 3,4 years.

If you've seen me, you be grateful I'm not in Lycra!

Some odds and sods for the forthcoming B+ Build: grips, pedals, headset spacers and some Hope 142 bolt through converters in case I fancy trying to run it with my Solaris wheelset....

Re: Talk to me about B+

Kind of finalised my build with Dan @Stanton:

Next gen Sherpa (L in that green)
Scraper rims on Pro2 evos with 3" Bridger/Trail Boss combo.
Reba solo air 120mm boost forks
2x11 SLX & matching brakes.

Still at least a couple weeks off shipping yet though....

Absolutely, that's my intention. :-bd

Nothing worse than having to do it for the first time in the gloom and pishing rain (this is Scotland after all).

Re: Tarpologists - what do I need?

Picked up my poles and guy line stuff from the PO this morning. Nice and prompt from Stu.

Excuses now running out. Just need for it to be dry enough to cut the grass and I can get tarping

Re: Talk to me about B+

Placed order for my frame (Next gen Sherpa). It's on backorder until later this month. Will be getting Scrapers on Pro2 evo with Bridger/Trail Boss combo and Reba 120mm Solo Air Boost forks from Stanton as well. Will probably build up 2x10 XT for a start. Man, it's going to be a loooong month.... :m...

Re: Tarpologists - what do I need?

Most economic length is 100cm (for the carbon), are a couple these going to cover most things?

Probably opt for the 2 pole mid tarp configuration...

Re: Tarpologists - what do I need?

Had a chance to check out the links , thanks for that. Much appreciated.

What's the main differences between carbon and DAC, other than (obviously) cost?

And what's best, a 120cm and a 100cm?

Re: Tarpologists - what do I need?

Yeah, I know Stu sells poles. I was hoping for some pointers referenced to the shop would be helpful :-)

Also I've none of them toggle things to tension so will be throwing in a set of them.

I'll check out that review section though as you seem to think it might help...
