Edge of the Fens there, so edge of the Wild West
 Yep, the Fens is where I reside, and the fact it is like the Wild West is the reason I’ve fallen for it’s own unique charm. :-bd

What an absolutely wonderful trip! Sowing the seed for future adventures, they looked ecstatic. Brilliant work.

A parcel from Wales containing a fab looking Acepac seat harness, to go match the handlebar harness I got a while ago, and some fuel bottles. I only ordered it yesterday, rapid delivery, cheers Stu.

You're not wrong, but the biggest factor is the seemingly incessant wind. I find a mix of laughter and swearing gets me through.

Adventures in the Fens, an exercise in mindfulness

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit that I've often looked at all the amazing places round the country there are to bikepack with an envious eye. I long to cycle in Scotland, Wales, and so many parts of England, but my family and I moved and made a home three years ago in the fens. The flatlands. I looke...

Wanting to try flat pedals

Hi, now that I'm going to start getting out more, following my how fit am I post, I'm really keen to stop using spd's and try out flats. Having spoken to Johnclimber on Instagram he recommended Pembree pedals, but funds at the moment won't allow for that. So, if anyone has got any cheaper alternativ...

Re: How unfit am I?

From personal experience; I can manage a fairly tough first day but often struggle on subsequent days. I put that down to not managing my hydration and nutrition very well. It might be worth exploring that side if things too. OTOH I sleep pretty well (for me) when outdoors whereas many don't. That ...

Re: How unfit am I?

aim to do a day What does 'fit' mean and what does 'unfit' mean I wonder? Who gets to say? I agree, it’s all relative. I think I was just a little shocked/surprised at how much I was struggling, certainly based off of my previous fitness levels. The lack of any proper riding clearly has had a subst...

Re: How unfit am I?

Bit difficult to tell form just the info you provided, how much of the 24hrs was riding time? How much did the bike weigh? What bike? Conditions? Most importantly, did you have fun? On the Gower weekend we did 85 km in 27 hrs but had a great time. Unless it's a race what does it matter as long as y...

How unfit am I?

Hello all, curious about others on here, as a comparison. I’ll preface this by saying I’ve never been particularly goal oriented, much more interested in the joy of being out on a bike as opposed to distance covered. I’ve just got back from an overnighter on part of the King Alfred’s Way I did with ...

Not the sexiest topic discussion, but any recommendations would be great. I’m fitting my acepac handlebar harness and want to tape up to prevent rub. Which does sound a little suggestive. Cheers.

I’m after 3 day route suggestions

Hello all, I’m after a bit of advice. I’ve been on a few bikepacking trips and next year me and my biking mate are planning on going on a three night trip. It has to wait till next Easter as he’s just become a dad again. So what I’m asking for is any really good UK based 3 nighter routes with an emp...
