Re: What are you reading now?
ive never read a book in my life so far, what do people get from reading a book, does it give you a better life just seems a waste of time to me,there are other things more important to do does it help with your mental health to read a book matt I guess some people think the same about cycling to so...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
Spacemaker sale now on at Alpkit. Annoying that a lot of the women's stuff 50% off but the equivalent men's stuff is 25% off or thereabouts. I don't think it's going to do much to tip the balance of historical gender inequality, but it's mildly irritating. Maybe it's deliberate ploy to encourage fe...

I think I've spent more time on here since the lockdowns began. But perhaps that's not surprising.
It's definitely helped, and is helping, me not go mad, so cheers Stu, and everyone else

Re: Man's best friend
(**) Sorry to female Boners, I had to fit the joke to the narrative  . Perhaps we should ask the female Boners if they'd rather have a more fetching collective noun? Thanks for asking, but personally I am quite happy being an honorary/metaphorical boner with balls :-bd As you wish. Perhaps it...

Re: More runners input pls
james you could do it now. Just apply the same long distance ethos. Start real slow, feed and never go near the red. This is a good summary. Like everything training is utter bollocks it’s is your mind In terms of achieving your goal, I agree. In terms of avoiding injury... not so sure: injuries ar...

Re: More runners input pls
Recovery and impact on cycling, is that about muscle or joint toughness needed? Running feels equivalent to a much hillier or harder ride than HR alone suggests. Good question. Both I guess, but joints are probably the tricky one. One thing I read years ago about running that's stuck with me: your ...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
But, hey, it's Cheery Friday and we can't be down for long!! I've just started reading 'McCarthy's Bar' for the umpteenth time and it makes me glad to be alive :-bd . Must be 15 years since I read that! Probably time to revisit it, great book. I've had a pretty damn cheery Friday. Unexpectedly brig...

Re: More runners input pls
I'm not a runner, but going to weigh in anyway, because that's how the internet works  Anyway, it might be useful... Conventional wisdom would tell you "no". I think the answer is probably "yes, but", with the buts being a) how quickly do you want to do it: hopefully not ve...

Railway Map
I'm sure someone on here mentioned a UK rail map plotted as a physical map rather than a Tube style diagram - possibly as an overlay on Google Maps or similar - but I'm buggered if I can find it. Thought it was on the "where would you live?" thread. Someone help me out?

Re: The Aire Watershed
I should add: bonus points for not calling it the The Aire Divide, even though that would be quite accurate  Honestly didn't even cross my mind Dave! Geographically it is a watershed not a divide since the water falling to the east also ends up in the same sea. Fair point, hadn't considered t...

Re: What are you drinking now?
A Diabolous imperial stout from Durham Brewery. Except this batch, brewed in 2016, was matured in whisky casks for 14 months (and boy can you taste it). It's been in the garage (maturing, don't you know) for at least 6 months, and the label says there were only 750 bottles, so the chance of getting ...
