Sport Pursuit is chock full of Evoc backpacks at the minute, decent discounts but still pretty spendy for a bag!

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

A while ago I posted about the down blankets we had bought. They disappeared from eBay for a while but are back again now. They are quite big and are just a flat blanket, they do not have a footbox or anything. They weigh around 465g and are roughly 152cm x 177cm. We use them just as they are to bo...

This new job is killing my exercise time as it's to far away to cycle to, managed to squeeze in an hour on the bike last night and hopefully doing a bit of walking with the kids this weekend. I get an ho...

A kilo off in a week, happy with that! I've been using my fitness app to try and cap my calorie intake to 2000 and managed to go out for a short run on night. Hoping to do some cycling this weekend at some point, may even squeeze a bivvy in! :-bd

Re: Map reading.....info

Passed my NNAS bronze award at the weekend, amazing how much info is drawn onto a map you never see until it's pointed out to you. I may do a few map based trips this year to help hone the skills I was taught. :-bd

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread

Ok, pretty much everyone has posted their numbers for today and they're all logged on the shiny new spreadsheet. Everyone who hasn't managed it yet just post it when you get the chance and I'll log it then. Good effort everyone. Losses all round (for those who also posted on the 1st) with the only ...

Re: Map reading.....info

At the grand old age of 32 I have to admit I have no idea how to use a map and a compass, I have up until now solely relied on plotting a route into my garmin and following the line on the screen. It is however something that's bothered me for quite a while so I have spent my birthday money from las...

Re: Fatfighters 2019 Weigh-in Thread

Hello all, thought I'd join in this year after the excesses of Xmas have left me feeling portly!

04.01.19 - 89.9kg

I'd like to get down to 80kg by summertime but I've just taken a new job that'll see me at a desk all day so it'll be tough going!

Re: Fatfighters 2019 - who's interested?

I'll throw my name in the ring for next year, just taken a job 40 miles away so I'll be commuting by car rather than bike and desk bound for most of my day so I'll have to keep my ever expanding waistline in check!

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy.

I thought Newtonmore was drink and food? Assuming that, what time do folk expect to leave for the bothy? I'm waiting to see what the weather brings before deciding how far to ride. Nothing of my route down is particularly exposed, though the headwind will still be a pain and I can only pray we don'...

Are we still planning a pub stop at the Glen hotel in Newtonmore? I think I'll set off fairly early to miss the worst of the snow, may head straight to Newtonmore if the weather is really shitty but hoping it's not as bad as it's being made out.

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy.

It just gets better.. There is a risk of snow developing with strong southeasterly winds affecting northern UK on Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. The snow could be heavy at times, especially over hills where blizzards may develop, and is likely to drift in strong winds. Across northern Engl...

Friday started very non-cheery being dragged round the shops doing Xmas shopping with Mrs512, turning out much more cheery now I'm packing my bag for a bothy trip tomorrow. No bikes involved but I'm still looking forward to a few drams in front of the bothy TV :-bd
