Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy.

I'm in whatever the plans are! :-bd Rowcoish is apparently just a straight up party bothy at the weekends, if we're looking for something in that area how about Mark Cottage? We could cycle in the Long way from Trabert via Lochgoylehead? Alasdair a lift in the van would be good but if you're fully s...

Re: Who's bailed?

Bailed on the capital trail last year, I was doing it on my own a few weeks after the group start and the head wind was morale sappingly brutal, made it as far as Pebbles and decided it just wasn't fun so I headed to the pub and phoned Gill to come and rescue me. As above if I'm not enjoying myself ...

Re: Mallaig to Loch Eil

I've walked from Strathan into and across Glen Kingie to get to a munro. Possibly the wettest I've ever been short of swimming. The ford was dodgy enough on the way there but was seriously life-threatening on the way back. I was glad there was two of us.... No idea about the bothies I'm afraid. Che...

Any idea what bothy is better, Glen Pean or A'Chuil? You're spoilt for choic...

I have a Hubba Hubba and it's been great, starting to get to the end of its life now but it's been properly abused for over 5 years. I'll be replacing with the same again soon I think

FS - Pipedream Sirius Frame

For sale is my Pipedream Sirius steel frame, size large, silver, straight steerer, disk mount, takes 26" wheels. I bought it as a stop gap from RobMac of this parish but I've now upgraded to a Ramin 3+ so it's no longer required. It's a great bike so it's a shame to see it hanging in the shed d...

Re: Can we have a new jersey yet?

If it comes to a vote I would go with keep it the same design as current or just change the colour - if you must - as long as it sets a precedent that every iteration has a different colour from now on. I agree, I quite like the current design but it would be nice to have a new colour. It wou...

Re: Lightweight Pedal Spanners?

My pedals can be taken on and off using an Allen key from the back of the crank, if you had pedals that do this then you could do it with a multi tool which I assume you'd be carrying anyway?

Re: Budget disc brakes

If they are leaking, you'll see oil running out of the caliper. leaks shouldn't cause squeaks, just make the brake not work. Check your calliper and calliper mount on frame alignment. If you do go for new ones deores are great but if your calliper mounts are miss-aligned they will still squeal.... ...

Re: E-Bike Loan

I worry that if I get an e-bike, all my other bikes will get punted and I'll never look at another bike again (as well as ditching bikepacking....) They are a good training aid tho, at the weekend my pal was idly cruising up a hill chatting about the scenery whilst I was deep into the overdraft zon...

E-Bike Loan

Apparently you can get a 4 year interest free loan on E-Bikes funded by the Scottish government. Maybe not many e-bikers on here but possibly useful for not so fit spouses, commuters etc.

Re: Can we have a new jersey yet?

I would take one, I missed the last round and the one I have is starting to reek a bit. I do like the current design but happy to go with a redesign if that's the general consensus, perhaps Orange as Mike says as it'd go with my new Ramin! :-bd
