Re: BIvy/route help near Masham, Yorkshire
I was very impressed with how cycling friendly the whole place is We were on our way back to Masham from Skipton. It was Thursday night, dark, raining and generally quite miserable. We were pootling up a little B road and came across a group of roadies out for a ride. Quite a lot of them! They weren...

Ooo, that's good that. Might also stop the heat sink effect of whatever ground the stove is on. I find that a problem when it's chilly, doesn't want to bloom if it's on a cold rock

I haven't checked, but have you tried ebay Tony? You'll often find the same thing on there, might be slightly more but you can look for a UK seller at least which means quicker delivery
Edit - you can also include the ones with two connecting arms in your search, you don't have to use both

So really I should wind my neck in
I can also pretend to be somewhere thousands of miles away that is warm and sunny, or maybe mountainous and picturesque

A giant with surprisingly small fingers! For me, the thing with gas is that you need to consider what you want to do with it If it's boiling water then something like the jetboil is ace, but it's rubbish for cooking and is quite big The worst thing about gas is the size of the canister, you ideally ...

Garmin Oregon 550t here I bought it years ago (over 7 maybe?) for walking and geocaching. It was an upgrade from a Garmin eTrex Vista C. Pure luck that it works well for bikepacking! I bought the RAM mount kit for it so I could use sat nav on a motorbike trip recently, wasn't as good as a specialist...

For some reason Chew's set up looks a lot bigger than Stuarts and Scotts
Maybe it's perspective, or the gas tank, or the CTC bag and poles in the harness. Not sure

Re: The 1st Torino-Nice Rally, anyone?
I'm really jealous of those of you who went on the Tuscany trip and are going on this one, they look ace I like wearing a set of clothes at night that are different to my riding clothes as I can feel the grim on me and don't like it getting onto my bag/quilt - even if it's a pair of boxers and a t s...

Interesting - both of you not carrying a stove Good plan on food, but I reckon I'd miss a brew before bed or first thing in the morning. Saves a bit of spare and effort I guess Are there enough resupply points for water in towns etc? Don't see filter or similar Not seen those tyres before? Is your p...

Stuart, what tyres are you running there?
Would be interested in packing lists for Stuart's and Scott's set ups - looks like a racing set up there's so little

Re: BIvy/route help near Masham, Yorkshire
Disappointingly I didn't take a bike with me. My car was poorly so I used my dad's car, which is smaller than mine so I didn't have enough room! I would have seriously struggled on my little 3 gear Brompton though, it's quite hilly once you get to the Dales! I did the drive out of Pateley Bridge tow...

MTB softshell - DHB Moxie - £33
DHB moxie hooded jacket, black, medium In amazingly good condition, couple of very minor marks but you'd have to look fairly hard to find them. I've worn this on one proper ride and then realised the sleeves really are too short for me (I'm 6'3). Cracking piece of kit, see the reviews on bike radar ...

Ordered! We'll see if it lands, looks like the 20% worked Good stuff. Pretty much the only thing I don't like about the smock is the stuff sack as it isn't built in so one day I'm going to lose it. Apart from that it's genuinely ace, sleeves that are actually long enough for me too (for normal wand...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread
See if the 20% discount code works still. It was supposed to finish on Monday, might be a glitch One of the things that put me off buying stuff is the postage. I was about to drop the best part of £100 on bits and still have to pay a fiver for postage. I cancelled on principle, partly as I didn't re...

Re: Frustrated packer...
To be honest I think you've packed pretty well. Some small changes I'd potentially make I separate potentially wet stuff from dry stuff, and also put things I might need to access during the day away from things I want at night. - waterproofs separate from sleep kit - FAK not with your spare clothes...

Sorry
They had the 20% off code applying to it too, I didn't post up on here as I didn't want you guys to feel bad!
I nearly bought a 2nd one as a spare... finally came to my senses though
