Re: Very off topic - pins and needles following AZ jabs

Interesting the variations of side effects. I had headache both times. Very sore muscles for a week with fist jab. Still have a constant metallic taste in the mouth, approximately 10% of things smell different too. When outdoors ,I seem to smell a hamster cage smell quite regularly. Second jab resul...

Re: Fork mounted bag advice…

I regularly carry stuff on my planet X Fork bag and mounts on my fox forks. Especially a 1.5ltr or 1ltr stainless steel flask. The cable ties are ok if not carrying heavy weight items. However ,found using the jubilee clips with some inner tube to protect the fork the best option. Handling is affect...

Wow!
I have never burnt out a set of pads in any event including 8,12 and 24hr events in all sorts of weather conditions.

Be interesting to know how to achieve it! (Curious)

And how many of you do!

Re: Steel vs Carbon forks for reducing fatigue

I ride my rigids like stu. The bars "floating" in my hands, barely any grip. I have alloy and carbon bars on various bikes, seems to work ok to reduce numbness and fatigue regardless of bar or fork material. Have heard good reports on revgrips? Very expensive, £60-100. But claimed to float ...

Re: Help me with my creak

Just lost another lengthy post grrrr! The gist of it was that on one creaking job , I found the rear wheel ran smoothly, but upon dismantling the freehub and cartridge wheel bearings,I discovered they were corroded. Once replaced , the creaking was cured. (Only after doing previous stuff to cranks,pe...

Re: Help me with my creak

Bottom bracket bearings are regularly culprits. If threaded type, unscrew them clean threads and regrease threads and re-install. Press fit same applies, except, tricky to remove and various cures ,from greasing outer and inner races ,to applying carbon grip paste to outer race,or paste to plastic cup...

Re: anyone run a Gates belt drive on their rohloff ?

Fwiw Ton, I have been running two bikes with belt drive a 700x35 hybrid and a cube 29er which I use on and off road. I Agree, expensive investment, but cheaper long term. However, not totally maintenance free. Needs to be cleaned with small brush and water, especially if clogged with mud etc. Off road...

Re: Made me smile, plus EBB and Chain question

Once a year remove ebb assembly,it allows any water out that may be trapped in seat, down and chain stay tubes. Clean and dry everything, smear of grease on mating surfaces, reassemble, and retension belt /chain. Using verniers is a faff. (Yes I learnt the hard way too! ) Just buy a park chain w...

Thought you might know Reg! Are the ruins still there? The 80's was the last time I went there. Or is it a housing estate? Perhaps I should revisit it! By the way boner's, I am not endorsing riding on or off road without lights. :o . I admit I have been riding for 40+ years with my lights off during...

Shame I have missed the banter lately. Father has been in and out of hospital. However, this is a great topic. Night rides. pistonbroke wrote: Mon Sep 28, 2020 2:43 pm Not really Rohloff's fault but if you do get one, make sure you avoid SJS Cycles. I wanted to order a small paper gasket and drain plug screw to do an oil change, the cost of the parts is a fiver, they quoted £38 for postage and wouldn't budge when I queried it.

Re: Rohloff hub

Main cons are weight and drag in the lower 7 gears, initial cost. Pros are low maintenance, ease of maintenance (oil change ) long service life, (claims of 100,000+ miles) A lot of round the world riders have used them. Can be used with gates belt drive instead of chain drive for even lower maintenan...

Re: Long term storage - top tube

Psling has made an important point. A service prior to long term storage is a good idea if you have the tools. Removal of seatpost ,BB and steering bearings, brake pads, clean, inspect, regrease (not the pads)and reassemble, will guarantee bike is ready to ride after storage. It's also good practice to...

There are also two types of Shimano SPD cleats ,STD (black) and a commuter version (silver) . The commuter version, feels looser,it requires a small arc to release and it can also be r...
