Re: Bivvy a month 2019

December done 11/12 for me, I started in February I had mixed feelings about BAM… cheesed off with Brexit, Boris and also with winter coming to Syria it seemed a bit disingenuous to sleep out to get a badge. I had a few hours cycling in the woods at the weekend that lifted the spirits, so reminded o...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

Late post - November done, 10/12 for me as I started in February this year Sorry no photos yet, imgur is just crawling this evening... I did a large part of The Cotswold Loop, that is based on the more down to earth west end of the Cotswolds (Dursley/Nailsworth/ Wooton under Edge) where they used to...

Re: What winter socks?

Another reminder for Goretex ex army boot liners. Just back from a cold wet and muddy Cotswold's overnighter. Had thinnish wool socks inside the liners with Shimano winter boots and warm dry feet for 2 days. The best £5 I have spent, (twice)and too good to be used for those night time exits as in St...

Re: Bendable plastic for making a harness

Later reply : The harness is very good - Stu posted the link a few years back, something like "No sew handlebar harness". I will try to post some pics. this evening. Reg has it right, although the pound shop folder cover works, I thought that something a bit more "polythene" woul...

Re: Bendable plastic for making a harness

I have made a handlebar harness using plastic sheet that was previously an A4 plastic ring binder from the pound shop. When you remove the clip mechanism you end up with a piece A3 size.
Hope that helps.

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

October done 9/9 - I started in February Patchway train on Friday lunchtime. Bikes on trains ?? …I thought I had it dialled by now as the 12.38 is usually a small thing, 3 carriages and with no booking and Patchway is a very quiet station (no competition !). So I got a bit confused when a HST rolled...

September done : 8/8 for me I started in February Another after work mid weeker. Found myself on Hallen Marsh in the M5/M48 traingle. I found an enticing unmapped gated lane off of NCN10 parallel to the railway bank up above, perfect but couldn't get my tent pegs in, think it may have been a road be...

Re: Bivvy a month 2019

August done. I started in February so 7/12. A local one on a work night. Left the North Bristol/Cribbs Causeway craziness to drop down Hollywood Lane and quiet roads on the Severn Plain. Blackberries, apples and plums a plenty it was lush down there. A quick beer at Littleton on Severn then into the...

Pretty sure it goes all the way to the South Coast (via Basingstoke?) Currently on the bike in the Cambrian Mountains, will e mail the gpx I have when home on Thursday.

If you are trying out with a Shimano style BB you can adjust the chain line if needed using spacers on the drive side.

Good luck !

+1 for a new "Routes" section with gpx in the forum

Maybe the genuine BB articles get a sticky (Bigbear, BB200s, those Bearstock routes etc all in one place)

Individual posts for other routes with any notes, like direction of travel if a circuit and any good cafes !

May done 4/4 I started in February May was looking full on the home front, so a fairly local trip. Had a free ticket for Bespoked Bristol so spent a couple of hours there on Friday afternoon catching up with old faces and looking at new frames. Yes it is peak bike geekery, lots of off road bikes, so...

Where to send unwanted cycling clothing for charity re-use?

I am sure that there was a post on here a few months back giving details of a charity sending cycling clothing (to Africa?)

I can't find it here now, and a wider google gives links that are a couple of years old.

Can anyone help ? Thanks in advance
