Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

There are new lambs about, I've just eaten my first fly of the season, the hawthorn buds are breaking out, and the first celandines are flowering. Sure signs of spring, every one. It doesn't get much cheeryer than that.

Re: Who plans their routes?

I plan anything that's not local. That's because I can't trust my goldfish memory (Ooh look, there's a castle.) to remember even the next turn, never mind the 3/4/5 after that. I put my routes on the etrex, and because the screen is so small, it's easiest is to follow the line. I have a fair few OS ...

I was mooching around the web a week or two ago and came across this. It made me smile. Perhaps you’ll get a smile out of it too. :-bd A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar...

A great adventure - thanks for sharing. :-bd I had been thinking of something like this for a while, but there seem to be very few tracks close to the boundary, meaning long stretches of busy roads. “Beating the Bounds” I would have called it, after the beating the bounds ceremony that used to happe...

**No, not oven chips because they're horrible. These are real chips just that I cook them in the oven, so roasted I suppose. Controversially, and I throw this open to the usual Cheery Friday suspects for discussion, I chopped the spuds into half inch CUBES. Shades of Fawlty Towers and the 'amphibio...

Re: Living a meagre existence so you dont have to work ?

I'm now counting the days until freedom. That was me, 10/15 years ago. But the nearer it got, the less I wanted to retire. How sad is that? My solution was to persuade another old f@rt to job-share. We do one persons job, working shifts, two days on, six days off. Done this for over six years now. ...

My mum popped her clogs last August. Not cheery. But today we started clearing her house. Sooo much stuff. Why do women need so many shoes? 4 Zafiras full of clothes, some with labels still in. But, behind a wardrobe was an envelope with 50 £20 notes in it. Friday was pretty cheery after that.

In WW2 the National Government controlled almost every facet of the public's life from the compossition of their daily bread to where and when they could travel, for a death toll of 60-70,000 civilian deaths in 6 years, a total we've far exceeded in 10 months. Someone sent me a joke the other day. It goes like this :- Ten years from now, you’ll put on a jacket and find a mask in the pocket. “Oh man, what a weird year that was”, you’ll chuckle to yourself. It’s just a joke, but true nonetheless. COVID will pass (more or less) and life will go on. Woody All...
