Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
Cheers for headsup, I'll stick with my 42g Exped pillow then. Cuben weight noted too, how well will a flat tarp cope in high winds with .33 using only bike as support?

Re: Any advice on this please!!
Bin them?! Are crowns hollow formed? I've ridden deeper scratches in carbon fork blades and carbon seatstays with no I'll effect.

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
Nope, it's 215g heavier than the bivvy/tarp combo on the list. And no 15' sleeping bags, it was 15' here the other day, blue skies and sunshine, I was in shorts and a t-shirt! On a 3/4 mat my little legs would get chilly, and it has a zip, a zip I tell you, on sul gear? :o I'm thinking of ditching t...

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
Micro tarps are ruled out Ben, I'm going full coverage only. Bivvy bags may be waterproof but they sure as hell aren't fun when in direct rain for hours on end. I'll take the pillow, I seem to remember they have a limited number of uses though. It'll have to be bulked out with the down vest as it'll...

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
I can't sleep on closed cell :(
A balloon bed I can manage on, although with the faff and 20 balloons (7per night 3 spares) they do become a pita.
Maybe the Klymit Inertia 3/4 XLite at 155g is a good compromise?

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
I'm curious, however I've not got time to do a list in one go, so I'm going to keep dipping into this thread to update it as I go. Again, this isn't a list for pure survival. Here we go, need to start somewhere. Feel free to improve.... Theoretical 17lb Rigid Singlespeed - 7711g PHD Minim Ultra +8' ...

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
Looks good James, was ur build with weight the main priority or was that just how it all turned out? Is that similar set-up to ur intended TD setup?

Re: Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
Yep I guess the easy thing for me is that I only weigh 65kg, 90g stems, 160g seatpost's and 1300g wheelsets give me no cause for concern. I've gone off the idea of building the Lynskey uberlight because quite honestly bikepacking for me is about riding the trails/bike I love (fairly solid 1x10 Solar...

Ultralight weights - sub 25lb?
Any thoughts on what could potentially be the lightest 2 night set-up? It would have to be sensible and include first-aid, bike tools and the like. I'm not taking about pure survival but our usual; in it for a good time type list. Full weather protection for a potentially grim summer's night, somewh...

Re: Quilt/Matt set up..
The differential fill thing doesn't suit my sleeping style. My bag seems always to roll with me, so as soon as I'm on my side the lower side is as much exposed as the front side. Fairly certain my PHD bags aren't differential as such as you can shift the down 360' yourself through the baffles. Repor...

InspiredRamblings, the Gearne shoes have now seen a few outings; on tarmac there is the very occasional gruntch?! as the cleat hits the deck but for general off-road trail scrambling they seem great. Only gripe would be they are quite well padded, so once wet they are going stay that way for the res...

Re: Pillow Talk
Had one a few years, for the money they are great. Good shape and reasonable weight. Just replaced it with the Exped UL pillow at 1/3rd the weight/packsize but sadly 5 times the price! I struggle to sleep on any air pillow though without it being supplemented being wrapped in a down vest! They alway...

Big respect guys. I think Chew's comment about their 2.5days riding into Ian's 1 really does hammer it home!
Congratulations to all those who took part.

Gairy, it looks very much like a Paul's Chain Keeper. Very good they are too, Bricklane Bikes is the only non US stockist I could find when I bought mine.
Some absolutely stunning pics, sadly it's another year I've missed

Gutted for you too. We had our garage done about 6 years ago and every single day I still walk over to it with that sinking feeling wondering if today will be the day it's been done again. Sadly it stays with you :(
