Re: I seem to be stuck for a wheel
they state the inner diameteri45 rims were 45mm
FWIW i use 30 mm rim with + tyres [650 and 29] and its fine[ Phil will disagree massively as more is more ]
5 mm wont matter and i doubt you would even notice

Re: Using Garmin Mapshare
Garmin support are pretty useful so try them [ e-mail them not the forums]
I would guess its something connect or explore that you have to link but never tried [ as our LEJOG route was not set in stone so it was pointless to try this

Had a non collapsible version when I lived on boat ...pretty crap and you need a mangle as it basically spins ( the 400 r means something at the bottom spins 400 times not your clothes which often don't move and just get agitated water.

Re: Spare tyre on a tour?
My back tyres are higher pressure than front especially bikepacking so does this make it more risky?
Whilst I agree its safer to have rear blowout than a front its a hell of lot of faff trailside with tubeless setup 'Probably would not

Re: Tent and sleeping bag recommendations
He is not wrong though a poor r value for your mat cannot be overcome by a good sleeping bag. I learnt this the cold hard way. Thermarest are the best exped are more competitively priced. I like a sol escape bivvy* to upgrade a bag and it also allows you to get in wet and muddy without having to wor...

Re: Tent and sleeping bag recommendations
I like the idea of bit more space than the coffin type 1 person ones but guess that results in more weight Its not camping so you are likely to crawl in , late at night tired, go to sleep wake up and get moving. I doubt I have ever spent more than an hour awake in mine in one camp. Enough space to ...

Are they still obsessed with making their freehubs deliberately noisy ?
Shame as still using an XC hub that must be nearing 20 year old, possibly even more
Spot the quiet freehub fan

Re: Tailfin Aeropack
Fit a mudguard ?The problem with the 15L is that it will rub my rear wheel if not packed exactly right
Also Seat post mounted racks - I used on for years - may have it up the attic if you want to try one- probably not that lightweight though

Re: Tailfin Aeropack
It's expensive so it must be the best available ( presumably their marketing thoughts )- given the cost, what are the benefits of a Tailfin compared to a more traditional tubular rack?

Re: Spare tyre on a tour?
Packing your fears ( I am happy to provide contact details and could send you one if required ) may lose a few days a week travelling but as you are going for a long time is time that important ? I also think any slash will be repairable enough to take a tube with tape glue and sewing etc . * I have...

I favour punching them in the face and destroying everything they own whilst telling them not to worry as the earthquake and Ukraine are having it worse and to get some perspective . I feel certain that with this approach they will grasp the weakness of their argument. Firestarter man needs to respo...
