Re: Ruta de la Plata

Anyone done the whole route on the walkers version, it’s dry now but if the rains come the mud will be an issue. Me, I've just ridden it.Though I should clarify that I was on Camino, so turned off the VDLP after Salamanca and followed the Camino Sanabres into SdC. As I understand it, the weather wa...

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

I've had 5 September BaMs but there's no point without the photos, so they'll have to wait (well 4 of them) until I get back; or find out how to get images from Goole photos.

Same is true for October BaMs.

Buen Camino. Thanks. It's going ok, but not without self-inflicted problems. I've lost a pair of cycling glasses, sun glasses, reading glasses, two eye masks and particularly testing this, a down hoodie. Testing because I thought I'd left it at a bivvy and cycled back 26 miles to get it to not find...

PS> There's hardly anybody in the BBB Pub this evening. I'm sat here in the corner with my flat cap on and a pint of mild talking to the pub dog. Is there some sporting event going on or summat? I'm here, though in foreign parts. Day 14 of my Camino, found a lovely spot albeit a bit noisy from the ...

The Plaça Major is Salamanca is a must see, one of the finest in Spain. You're telling me! I stood in the middle, absolutely gobsmacked. I'm staying in Salamanca today, for a rest and to do some sightseeing. Fair play, Spain has some beautiful places to see. It seems to have suddenly gone chilly in...

Yup. Got it in one. :-bd I hope my Arris hold out for the three weeks I've allowed. I bought some bum cream, but airport security bagged it. I had to get some "anti friction" cream from Decathlon. Haven't needed to try it yet. Tomorrow!

Now it's cheery but the week since Wednesday has been a bit sub-optimal. It started on the plane to Seville when I couldn't buy a G n T 'cause I'd left my cash card at home. The next day was spent trying to get my banks to let me get some cash out. They both kept blocking me and then I'd have to go...

Bum Butter Question.

I’m off for a three week bike ride in Spain in a couple of weeks. I’m confident I can ride the 35 miles a day I need to average, but not sure how my botty will hold out. To this end, (see what I did there  ) I’ve bought some bum cream. I have a question:- I’m hoping to bivvy some of the time, ...

Ha, I had a CT scan 7 weeks ago, I finally find out the results on the 4th. Not sure if that’s an oblique way of telling me that it’s nothing serious. 5 months in and no concrete diagnosis. Double Ha! When I’d had my heart attack back in May 2020, they sent me to Bangor hospital for an MRI scan, (e...

Nah! I was surprised to find how heavy they are though. Heavy enough to hold the side out without falling over. Respect to the road guys who seem to be able to throw them around like matchsticks.

I dunno - since going singlespeed it has crossed my mind that having some kind of 2 speed high and low range (concealed cunningly in the BB so people don't realise you are a wuss) would actually be very good - will still have a low maintenance drivetrain, no dangly thing and a nice light back end. ...

My old neoair (now called xlite?) is still going strong. I don't notice the noise but then I'm asleep. They always sound louder to the user as your ear is right next to the mat  I don’t hear it either. My (unintentional) solution to the crisp packet noise was to get older and deafer. My ears ...

Took it apart into large lumps. I’m off to Spain in September for an “adventure before dementia” ride from Seville to Santiago de Compostela.
