Re: 28h Hole Rear Wheel Sufficient?

Cheers all. 274 it is then. I’m a fan of DT Proloc nipples that come with a light locking compound in them and help to keep everything in place once the wheel is built Any idea how this compound holds up once it has been broken and the nipple used again? I am thinking that the nipples I have may act...

Re: Wahoo elmnt ROAM -at intervals - review

I'm not sure... tell me more about its Viewranger and OS maps usage?? :???: Basically, one of the strong points of the Wahoo system generally is its ability to easily link to whatever gpx creation method you want to use. Viewranger is pretty good in its free version but is great when you buy the ad...

Re: Wahoo elmnt ROAM -at intervals - review

Stu, initially when I got the Wahoo Bolt and its lack of colour I did hold onto both my 1000 and 520 for off road usage. But the more I used it and the more I realised that they'd hit it on the head with off road tracks too. You do miss the coliur and detail but unbelievably mot acruslly that much....

Re: 28h Hole Rear Wheel Sufficient?

Also, the spokes I have removed appear to be DT DBs (assume competitions) but are 278/9mm. I assume there is nothing I can do to reuse these (other than choose a different rim)? The wheel they have come off is brand new so they are perfect. I think the nips are alloy though but don't really know how...

Re: 28h Hole Rear Wheel Sufficient?

According to the DT Swiss Spoke length calculator I need 274.9 left and 274.1 right with recommended lengths of 275 and 274. These are with 12mm nipples. And must be black. And DT Competition DB (unless persuaded otherwise). Trouble is, I don't appear to be able to find 275mm anywhere except one pla...

The skill of the builder is probably the thing that makes most difference at the end of the day.
In that case I really am in trouble! Never built up a wheel before!

28h Hole Rear Wheel Sufficient?

Hi all,

Just got myself a new rear hub for my trail/bikepacking bike to build up into a wheel but just noticed it is for a 28 hole rim. Was intending to build onto an alu rather than carbon rim. Think think that this is going to be sufficient or should I return it?

Cheers.

Re: What does your perfect event look like?

What about a central base with several waypoints scattered around it. Ride from the central base to a waypoint, take a photo of it or whatever then return to base to log it. Then head to the next etc etc etc. Do the waypoints in whatever order you want but only one at a time. Getting close to night ...

What is the reason for a half mesh, half waterproof construction? Do some bivi bags not have (sufficiently) waterproof hoods? Full mesh sounds like a great idea.

Elite Cannibal with every bottle I have ever used with it has never lost a bottle. Used camelback podium, various SIS, high 5, elite. All fine on a hardtail in the lakes.

I don't remember much if any self-pitying. Just watch for the people crying. They weren't crying because of war, famine, poverty or social injustice ... they were crying because they'd decided to have a go at riding their bike a long way and they found it hard. However, I do appreciate that I often...

Re: Air Sprung Sus Forks and Bikepacking.

Yes, partly cos of the extra weight but mainly to stop them bottoming out and hitting my bar luggage. This may affect their performance somewhat but better than ripping the harness/bag.

Edit: as to how much, I just put a bit and give it a bounce. Maybe add a bit more.

Second hand Islabike. Bienn 20 comes in small or large. Lasted my girl from 5 till 8 and is now being refreshed for my 5 year old boy.

Edit: go careful on price. Some go for silly money. Paid £200 for mine.

Good luck. The lakes route I did last summer had a lot of hike a bike up the rocky hills so hope it's a nice route. Walna Scar before I stop to rest Saturday nigh If you manage that theres a nice pub pretty near the bottom in Torver for dinner (if that's allowed?) and a church hall you can bivi behi...

Alpkit Drybag Stem Cell

Anyone else got one of these? Specifically the xl. Am a bit disappointed in the capacity - the dry bag liner feels a little undersized to me and doesn't allow the full capacity of the cell to be used. Lots of baggyness round the perimeter of the bottom of the bag. Not sure if this is normal for the ...

Rather than putting the lower strap round the headtube I swapped it for a longer one and wrap it round the fork crown like the wildcat one does. Seems to work OK
