Re: Mid Week overnight in Mid Wales in Mid November
Cool
We'll drop down to Ponterwyd, turn west to hit the cafe first thing
Then back to Ponterwyd for a pit stop at the petrol station (looks like a 'Premier' within a BP petrol station)
Then crack on

Re: Mid Week overnight in Mid Wales in Mid November
Shall we have brekkie in the cafe then? Means I'll pack less stuff for the start of the ride. I don't need the resupply as we're only out for 1 night and taking a few bits along with me is easy, but might do it if people want to stop

Re: Pryamid recommendations
I have a spinnaker version of the MLD Supermid, well a previous version of it anyway It's brilliant. I've had 3 adults in there playing cards and drinking whisky for the evening, and 2 adults and the dog. Mostly just me and the dog though. Light, huge, easy to pitch (I use walking poles as it's a sh...

You are indeed correct, Ponterwyd (and Staylittle) appear to be the only places we pass

Re: Sleeping mat decision
I've tried a few pillows and have finally settled on the exped one, i really like it I either stick it in the hood of my bag, under the hood (and hope it doesn't move), or under the strap of the chair kit if it's still attached to the mat (which it often is) One potential tip is to put a top (jacket...

Everyone should have the GPX now, I'll send an email to everyone with my phone number and my car reg/details just in case
Lets meet in the car park at 5pm for a 5.30pm getaway (on Tuesday 10th)
No obvious stops en route so don't forget dinner, brekkie and snackage/lunch

Re: Sleeping mat decision
Neoair large here. The original one My one was replaced a year or so after I bought it as it had leaky seams. This one has been going strong for years, 6 maybe? It's annoying having to carry bigger sleep kit as I'm tall - longer mat, longer mat, bigger shelter I have the chair kit for it and that is...

Re: Mid Week overnight in Mid Wales in Mid November
Lets aim for a 5pm meet with a 5.30pm leave time which'll give plenty of time for faffing We can meet in the car park, which is in the GPX Kevin, if you're coming from Devils Bridge and want to meet somewhere else, like the bothy rather than the car park, just say I'll be bringing some whisky with m...

Re: Anyone have just a cx bike no mtb?
My gravel/adventure/gnarmac/CX/allroad bike (Pinnacle Arkose 2) is my most used bike as its my commuter, shopper, kid trailer puller So if I really truly HAD to keep one bike, it would be the Arkose, as it's my most practical. I would be a great shame though and I'd really miss a mountain bike. For ...

Re: Mid Week overnight in Mid Wales in Mid November
Thanks a lot Stuart, really appreciate the time you put in to do it. Just had a look through the route (laptop at work), looks great! For those coming, we're doing around 42 miles in total. It's about 6 miles from the start to Nant Syddion, with the remainder the following day. Start point between P...

Re: show me your light solutions......
I had a Solarstorm X2 and a Garmin Oregon on a Minoura Space Grip bar extender, worked fine last weekend. I had plenty of light over the top of my bars Some of the bigger bouts of rain seemed to have upset the light though and there's some condensation inside, but that's a whole different problem [I...

Re: Mid Week overnight in Mid Wales in Mid November
Definitely! Sorry, my location was more about where i'll be coming from, rather than where we need to start the ride from. I wasn't clear at all
I can drive anywhere in Mid Wales! Start location can be anywhere as long as parking is ok

Yep, it'll just be a slow motocross bikejameso wrote:benp1, yup, you need all that with plates but it's worth saying. Could put people off the idea of a 500W e-mtb pretty fast.
I guess you'd need a CBT as well, or not if you're old enough to have the right driving licence...?

Actually, it needs an MOT, tax and insurance as well...jameso wrote: so it's only allowed where a green-lane crosser can go - ie not on 95% of the places we'd ride. Even then you couldn't ride on road to the places you can ride off-road w/o plates and a road-legal motorbike lid.

Re: E-Bike Threat
I'm sort of in two minds on this - though to be clear I'm fully supportive of e-bikes I was thinking that I would unrestrict it, if I had one, as that would be more fun. But I hate seeing evidence of motorbikes in the woods, it just ruins the trails. So a dongle'd e-bike, or one that has been modifi...

I imagine the riding nearly everywhere in America is good, as there is so much wilderness and open space, but it's also massive so things are spread out (given that getting to Wales from London is a bit of a mission!)
I guess they have things more dangerous that frisky sheep too

Re: Bottle cages
Before JohnClimber mentioned them, I was going to make some of my own, its a Scrapheap Challenge MYOG styley But the Mount Skidmore ones really are very faff free. They're neat solutions, not very expensive (from memory about the same price as a bottle cage), and they're very solid. I bought a pair ...

Re: Garmin UK ITT Maps - Any interest?
If you're still having trouble, I'll fire mine up and have a look at what they're called etc. But I can just switch between maps. That would be great. It might be that mine have the right names, in which case it's a different problem, but at least I'd know! Right now it's not a deal breaker, for th...
