We've had wild boar in the back garden over the last few nights, hunting has been banned since the lockdown. I bivvied in a wood next to my Moto Guzzi in Brittany one year on the way to madones des motards bikers rally at porcaro village. During the night heard what I thought were dogs sniffing the...

Re: Another Bar tape Q

This may help. Wind the righthand one clockwise and lefthand one anticlockwise. As you grip the bar,we tend to twist our wrists inwards. This will twist the tape tighter.....in theory!! I like silicone gripper type bar tape (Bontrager is one I have used) ,it can be repositioned and retensioned until...

Re: Swapping to Alfine 11

The yellow dots alignment is not gospel as there is a part of the shift mechanism that can effectively "twist" over time due to gear changing loads. So the dot on the shift drum ends up needing to be further clockwise to get the shift pawls correctly aligned. This may only be the thicknes...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Spot on Gairy! I am fortunate to be working on my own in a workshop. If we are restricted fully ,then we need to comply . I care for my 90+ father,as a lot of others do on this forum, so I am not interacting with anyone except across a counter wherever possible. A few months is a small amount of tim...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Nothing wrong with cycling to work as far as BJ advice. (At the mo) I certainly am continuing. Today was bliss, saw about a dozen vehicles. Popped into town to get dads eye drops. It was like a specials track!! 👻(Sorry VS!) The odd thing..... Loads of wrinklies were in town.....so much for isolating!...

Re: Swapping to Alfine 11

Punctures on a hub geared bike are a bit of a faff with wheelnuts. :| Just a suggestion. Get a pair of Poundland c-spanner set. Save the 15mm ones and grind off the opposite end to save a few grams. Or better still a pair of 15mm ring spanners, got a few from car boot sales once ,four for a £1! Sad I...

They do appear to produce good photos RC.
My bird pics look like dots with my current phone.
Some Huawei phones have telephoto lenses like the p30 & p30pro. Am just waiting for a new model to be released so I could afford the p30 .
Which model do you have?

Aha! 1950ish, twin, three bearing crank, nice looking rounded features! A burman box?
I have limited knowledge about British bikes to be honest,I like a few singles ie. Panther's, rocket 3 (hence Laverda triples, only 180° though!)
Plus.. kh triples, v-twins, and anything with More than 4cylinders, 😁

Re: Todays ride

How lucky you are to see so many buzzard's SR. Due to high kite numbers in beds, bucks,Herts area, don't see them very often. As your in the aviemore area. I used to ride Aviemore area MTB events in 90's . Does the cafe with a viewing bay window to watch birds and red squirrels near there still exist ...
