Re: final week before a long itt

It depends. How fit are you, how long is the ITT, and what training are you tapering from? If you are moderately fit, going for a 200 mile ITT in a fast time, and have crammed your training into the last 6 weeks then tapering is good. If you are very fit, going for 200km ITT in ok time, and have bu...

Re: What's new in dynamo light GPS power setups?

'Forumslader' Test(in german): http://fahrradzukunft.de/21/steckdose-unterwegs-4/ You can get it bespoke with a few batteries, with none, one or two ports etc. Got mine 3 years ago, when I was looking for one that's efficient at low speeds (biking in snow). Looks like the latest version now is more ...

Re: Sleeping when bivyin

Try thinking deep and hard of past times you truly love. Be it with your partner on holidays or similar. Focus. Focus on the nice things you remember. Dig into there. Try remember sounds, smells and views. It will take you to a deep, peaceful and quiet place. When my mind wanders off to upcoming hol...

Very responsible :-bd
Funny how that goes in hand with chasing folks through tussocks

Perhaps we'll soon face this when going bikepacking on one of the better knows routes:

Re: MBA say take your rubbish home.

Organise a bikepacking event/race and you have a much worse situation of the issue than guiding a handfull of pricks somewhere. Not sure how guiding's become intertwined here. Anyway, after 8 years of putting on events I can honestly say that as far as I know, we've never had any issues with tw8tis...

OMM Phantom Hoody ... waterproof goodness, no pockets, no zip, no leaks and reduced from £125 to £75 so seemed a good option. I've had an OMM Kamleika smock before and apart from it being too big, was very happy with the performance. Be interested to hear how you get on with it. +1 Installed some E...

Re: MBA say take your rubbish home.

Okay, it's a little late, installed new wheels, went for a short spin, had a beer and a pastis... But... When I seek the great outdoors, not epic, just in their grandeur they always are, which is there, welcoming you for a visit, why bother at all with stone walls and a roof? If you want to go out d...

Autopause/-resume with Garmin (Edge 810)

Since I turned into a Strava-b*tch, I realised my rides to be mostly on the short side. I have my Edge 810 set on autopause at the lowest possible setting (think it's 0.1 km/h), but now and then during HAB it will slip into pause, only to slip back to resume shortly after. With this my HT550 for exa...

Re: Gravel specific shorts - really?

So, a close fit baggy short, so you don't look too much like a mountain biker, and not a tight Lycra short so you don't look too much like roadie. Niche :-bd I thought the Endura MTR to be rather close fit baggy. Love them. Thin, elastic, rather close fit, dry really quick and the features I like a...

Re: New Specialized Bike Packing Bags

The contact point of fabric and any stiff material is alway a weak point. The stiff part, here alloy tubes, rub through the fabric sooner or later. Manufacturers then add more fabric and reinforce those areas and your gear gets heavier and more expensive. But then in my experience (the more regular)...

That was my initial thought and tried it on one. Was more difficult to make and wouldn't have trusted it staying on whilst packing and unpacking the quilt. So I thought I might as well just go more ghetto.

I tend to use Alterfil at 50 Nm (not torque but thread weight). 100 Nm is alr...

some times you just need the idea... My girlfriend is off to the roof of the Oberhalbstein (eastern Switzerland) for some hiking for the next 4-5 days and will by using my self made quilt. The wife bought me one for Tuscany. Fortunately my tiger got in the way. It didn't go. Is "Tiger" a euphemism ? Got one last weekend from my best mate. He got some for himself too. They are too heavy and in the end it's just a light under the saddle. My cheap single speeder came wit...
