Re: Bargain Alert Thread
I bought a Lidl bandsaw a couple of years ago (albeit named differently) and it was rubbish - in fact bits snapped / fell off as I was putting it together. I then bought a small Scheppach and while I'm under no illusions that it too is likely made in China, it's very good (especially once you repla...

Re: Restrap bar bag reviews please
I have a Roadrunner Jammer and rate it. Given Restrap ripped off the design I expect their version will be fine, with a little added shame.

Having the flanges further apart makes for a slightly strong wheel build. Shows your commitment to SS/makes you look cool.

Re: Lobster shell gloves
Plenty of insulated options inc. Giro, Alpkit, GripGrab.
I had the Giro ones many years back. They had individual finger slots inside each "claw" and I remember that being very toasty. Can't remember how waterproof they were though.

Pole jacks have been around for a while. Just a case of finding a tube with the right ID for your pole.

Re: I need to get familiar with intercity train travel
Transpennine Express are pretty good for bikes. Most of their trains seem to have 4 spots available to book and can all be done online. Was a surprisingly pleasant experience when I went up to Lancaster a few weeks back. Plenty of people take bikes on trains every day without fault, but only the han...

Re: Backcounty 3000 bivy: thoughts?
I think I was looking at the regular Hunka (~330g claimed). Out of complete work boredom I weighed the long version of the 3000 and it comes in at 474g with bag and tags, claimed to be 440g without, which seems ambitious.

Re: Backcounty 3000 bivy: thoughts?
I have one but haven't even opened the envelope it came in, let alone spend the night in it. Seemed to make sense at the time and nothing else was available, but might send it back given nothing's really gone to plan this year. Made in China if you're still boycotting them. If you're not, it's not r...

Soma Dream are the same style and rise, but with a touch more sweep. 25 instead of 17 IIRC. Shame they've gone from £40 to £75+ recently. I have a couple of sets and they're very comfortable.

Photos: https://photos.app.goo.gl/gK8EqEvBMcgmmTaZ8 Haven't had as much time to clean them up as I wanted. Still a bit of sealant round the edges of the rims that would need scrubbing out and a lot of old sealant in the tyres. Rim strips were toast and have gone in the bin. Checked the tyres and nip...
