Re: Trans Cambrian - Dec 18-20 - 2015

South Spain sounds very appealing right now. Might be worth holding off till Dec 11 (Weekend prior) to see what the weather looks like and make the final call as I am not keen on riding through thunderstorms. Wondering if a three day plan is more reasonable given that days are so short? I'm riding f...

Re: Trans Cambrian - Dec 18-20 - 2015

My mrs. said 'Go For it' which may or may not mean the dog house. While on the trail, such issues don't matter, which is the magic of bike packing.

Re: Trans Cambrian Trail

Re: Trans Cambrian Trail

...Hoping that four days without rain will dry things out a bit... Four days?! Pack dry socks and be prepared for wet feet...and perhaps a serious ford crossing! Greetz S. I have these waterproof socks and Gore Boots. But I'm not counting on anything but getting wet. How deep are the fords? Knee hi...

Re: Trans Cambrian Trail

G'day KT...I'd be up for another stab at this route. I'll watch out for your thread. Here's hoping the ground dries up a little beforehand and the lakes and swamps recede. Greetz S. I'd love to have you there as I've never done this trail before and one year into bike packing means I can use experi...

Re: Trans Cambrian Trail

Hi All, Planning to ride this route Dec 19/20. Weather looks glorious. I'll start a new thread but wanted first to get a quick feel for who is up for it? Likely train to Knighton Friday evening, ride Sat/Sun and back Sunday evening or Monday morning depending on progress. http://www.accuweather.com/...

Re: Any London based folk keen for a weekend winter campout?

I'm keen to try the 60mile north downs trail from Sevenoaks to Canterbury, and back. Lots of camping on the way. Optional loop to the coast depending on speed, time and weather.

In case of emergency good old cooking oil will do.

Re: Highland Trail 2015

If you are booking a train ticket from London, you may not get a bike spot on the Glasgow to Tyndrum leg. Virgin told me there were no spots for bikes. You'll have to contact Scotrail directly. They were very responsive and reserved a bike spot for me.

Re: WRT Entries now open.

Hi All - I may be going crazy, but can't seem to find anywhere on the forum or the online site for WRT that shows where the start point is or the closest city / station to the start point. Would be great to find out to help me plan.

Thx!

Downloaded the file and looking at it now. Thank you!
A bit of a twisty route in Brecon Beacons. I may have trim it down by 100 miles to fit it in three days.

Re: Highland Trail 2015

Lights are useful if it gets dark in a place you really don't want to stop ( like a few miles short of a bothy etc). I used a helmet mounted Joystick last year, and ran it on medium so it would last a few days. This year I am going with a dynamo and Revo, and probably a joystick for the slow pushin...

Hi, I need a spot, and would be great to contribute to Iona.
