Re: Cairngorms loop in April group.
I sent an e-mail application, fingers crossed I hope to be there at the start in April.
I rode it over three days with some friends from Germany and they were blown away, as I was. We did have perfect weather though and a slower pace. I feel this ride will be a very different animal.

I have one and really like it. Can't go wrong for that price either. There are lighter set ups for bike packing, but for camping, and weekend rides it will do really well.

I'd be more inspired knowing there is a place to dry / warm up on a December night.

Assuming I will be offered a spot, I was wondering if there will be some ride sharing opportunities! I'll be heading up by train from London, so looking forward to any advice on destination station and any kind offers.

What's amazing about Lael was that she rode the tour in 17 days, went back home to Alaska, rode 800 miles back to the start in Banff and did the tour again in under 16 days.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)
Loving the write ups, Ian, Alpinium, Lars and Ian Fitz. Interesting interpretations. Wondering if anyone saw Neil Evans, other ITT rider. Lovely chap. Swiftly rode past me every day as he took longer breaks. Last I saw him was at the top of the pushing climb after Ullapool leading to Fisherfields. O...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)
Zane reluctantly bowed out at Strathcarron and took the train. He was having bike problems and there aren't so many bike shops around there. In his words: "this has been an amazing race, I wish it didn't have to end!!! " I'm sure he's still smiling. Was great doing the northern loop with ...

Finding it difficult to believe that this actually happened. Hats off to Alan for having the ambition and determination to put together this dream journey in this magnificent country.

Hi Everyone. Thank you all for sharing your views on my starting plans. I want to assure you that I value everyone's opinion and in no way want to come across as someone not respecting the group start. I have amended my travel plans so I start on Sunday. Will be arriving in Tyndrum Saturday afternoo...

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters
I appreciate everyones concern for the main event. I assure that I share many of your reasonable values and I have inquired and came to my timing conclusion based on that. I checked my e-mail threads from Alan and it's very clear that I was invited to ITT as long as I don't start on the same day as ...

Re: HT550 2016 ITT starters
My understanding, as long as Alan has not changed his mind, that it's OK to do the ITT any time, as long as you don't start at the same time as the mass start. I think a day apart (before or after) is a reasonable gap and should offer the mass start the space and room it needs. I'd avoid starting on...

HT550 2016 ITT starters
Hi Everyone, This is a thread for those who will attempt the HT550 as an ITT. Based on my schedule, I will arrive at Tyndrum Friday late afternoon and will ride to Kinlochleven or there after so as not to disrupt the group start on Saturday. If anyone is interested in staring with me, please let me ...
