Re: Bikepacking tips

I'm to blame for starting it. I've done a lot of touring lightweight on road via B&B's WRT will be my first foray off road carrying everything. The thread has a lot of great ideas but there are a few I am still dithering about. 1) GPS. I'm torn between using my Edge 800 with a cable to my PD hub...

Re: WRT Route Sanity Check

Strangely I'm the exact opposite. Never ridden in the area off road at all and looking forward to epically failing all over the Welsh hills.

Re: The post man's been ...

"Also, I'm afraid I can't recommend getting one from Climbing Direct " I ordered one from them, they had issues with the supplier and sent me a Discovery instead (after asking) for no extra charge. I'm pretty chuffed with that for £125 and they didd keep me well up to date with what was go...

Re: WRT 2014

Hi Pete, remember me? We met up for a ride in the FoD many years ago which was cut short when my mate's bike died. Hope to see you out there that weekend

Re: Sinewave Revolution un-scientific findings

I asked USE about the boost device and Garmin charging, they replied:-

"That will be fine – Do remember that it will only hold the charge or give it a very slight charge – It will not fully charge the unit."

Re: Sinewave Revolution un-scientific findings

Daft newbie question from me. I have a PD hub and Revo setup with the USE USB adaptor that comes out of the output port. Not tested it yet as I've only just had the wheel built. What is the advantage of the sinewave over this setup? It does seem a pain that I need the light on in the day to charge t...

Re: GPS Fears, Spares and Maps...

Hi FLV I have experience of this from long road tours (LeJog twice and a couple of other country traverses). I always take a spare GPS, but in my case I use a small Garmin Edge 500. This is breadcrumb trail only but will get me out of trouble when looking at the map. I use a GPS because in bad weath...

I've gone for the yeti in the end. Ordered along with a bivi bag, train ticket booked, maps marked up, another bikepacker joins the ranks :-)

Bag for a *possible* benighting

Hi all I am doing a very very lightweight tour in a few weeks and will be in hostels/B&B most nights (I hope). I'm not pre-booking anything so there is always the possibility of having to doss for a night. Any recommendations for a lightweight bag that I could use for the occasional night in a h...
