Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Bob do you have a garmin? I’ve installed ‘every square’ its limited in scope but does give a live indicator of which squares you’ve been through. Yes, an Etrex35, where do I get that from? I normally plot the routes beforehand, using Strava and the veloviewer browser plugin - I just wasn't paying a...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Darn it - got distracted by the farmer's market, in Lodsworth, and forgot to wiggle round the back streets. Those 2 tiles are going to be a pain to go back for.

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

Those leaderboard screen shots, I notice in both of them for the years 'All' is not ticked. It only shows 2020 and 2019 but there may be other years ticked. You need to tick all to make sure all your historic tiles are included. Are we looking at the same screenshots? Both have 'All' ticked, surely?

Looks like the number one slot in the BearBones all-time square tickers list is now firmly out of my grasp though, as Jack Peterson has come storming through in the last few weeks, and is rapidly heading towards the top of the UK chart ? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50096707768_fbb088a524_z....

Re: anyone suffer from Hotfoot ?

Sometimes, on longer rides, the two smallest ties on my right foot start to experience sharp pains. I now try to have a sit down and take my shoes off, every few hours. Not sure if this is the same as 'hotfoot' or even related, but maybe somebody can explain it. Have a google at Morton’s neuroma. I...

You all need to help me finish this then https://github.com/citizenfish/servalan_2020 Maybe not the best choice of project name - unless you want every route to end up in a disused quarry ;) It's the kind of project that I'd like to get involved with, but I can't commit much time, at the moment (C+...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles

I'll not lie - I look at these achievements with a massive amount of respect and awe. However, I'm also aware of the fact that they are largely made possible due to the density of population and the nature of the terrain, neither of which I'd swap for my local area 😉 I like the idea of a coast-to-c...

Not sure I understand the second point - how else would you enter a tile? Drive to the tile, get out of the car, walk round the car recording, get back in the car and drive home. The self powered activity must start outside the square to be collected. Yes, as Sean said. If you've got 1 isolated til...

.My personal rules for a contributing activity are:
* Self-powered activity (cycle, walk, climb, paddle, swim).
* Enter the tile from another tile

Also an Etrex user, but use the talkytoaster maps, as these work with both the Etrex and the windows/Mac versions of Garmin Basecamp, making route planning pretty easy (for me)

Re: So you want bottle cage bosses eh?

Like you Bob, I was also thinking why haven't they got some under the downtube? I know there aren't any on the seat tube so you can run a long post/dropper etc, but it's such a good location to run a second bottle cage. That way you can have a half frame bag across the top. Maybe this lends itself ...

Re: What's the Gravelw@nker equivalent of this?

As a person "of a certain shape", I find braces very useful when wearing long cycling trousers, as manufacturers just don't seem to make any with the right combination of waist size/leg length, for me, and braces just keep everything in place. For some reason, I don't have the same issue w...

Yep Eaton Hall is definitely an elusive tile - only way to bag it will be an open day. Hoping August open day will be on, otherwise it’ll be a long wait to next year!
