Re: Kids bike sizing -24/26

I had the same dilemma last year. In the end I went with the 24" option, my son isn't that confident a bike rider and I really didn't want to put him off riding. We found a secondhand Carrera on eBay and it suits him well, he'll probably have outgrown it by the end of the year but we'll sell it...

Re: May Monkey Brain

I did feel a bit like that when I turned 38 (51 now) and suddenly realised there was a good chance that I was halfway through my life  Ever since then there has been a gentle sense of urgency reminding me that time is finite. But you only have one pair of hands and, as Colin Kirkus said, it's...

Re: Carbon road post - will I die?

Want a seatpost for the new stooge to swap out for the dropper when a seatpack it required. Always used alloy ones for bike packing duties before, but switching to the other extreme have seen one of these specialised carbon posts on flea-bay and think it would be nice and comfy, assuming it doesn’t...

WRT

Here are a few words and photos from my first WRT. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52044766196_c8bde34d28_z.jpg WRT 2022 by Robert Smith , on Flickr I wasn’t expecting so many people, great atmosphere though. Re: Thank you ...

Thanks to you and Dee for putting it on. It was my first WRT and I wasn't disappointed, it was a great atmosphere. Even though I cut my ride short, looking back I loved every minute of it. I hadn't realised how wild that part of Wales is, it was a real eye-opener. Long may the WRT continue.

Re: Any boulderers on here?

I prefer routes to bouldering, but I have had a dabble. Indoor walls tend to be about upper body strength as the route setters make grades more about steepness than technique. For now though I would concentrate on getting lots of problems done but with control and good technique. Then strength will ...

Looks good, could use cable cleats for a budget version. Depending on the size, 50p odd each from an electrical factors.

Re: "human litter" on Snowdon

Balancing tourism in the 'honeypot' areas is always going to be tricky. Granted this shouldn't be necessary, but maybe they need a sign at the bottom reminding people that there isn't any facilities on the mountain, also a reminder of the countryside code and LNT. Won't work for everyone for the rea...

Re: eTrex thrown a wobbly

Are your maps routeable? My only idea is that for some reason it started following the routeable road instead of showing my position. I don't know, I was on OS mapping from a sim card. It was definitely following my track at the beginning, no idea why it would suddenly begin navigating a route. Whi...

Re: Lost and found

Similar experience a couple of weeks ago. I'd stopped off and realised my rear light had bounced off of my saddle bag. I slowly rode back up the track I'd just came down, after 20 minutes or so there it was in a tractor rut.

eTrex thrown a wobbly

I was following a track on my eTrex that I'd made, when the cursor suddenly insisted I was about quarter of a mile away from where I was. I was crossing a field at the time and it thought I was on a road. There were five or six satellites available at the time, so more than enough to get an accurate...

Re: Dipped Bike Lights

I asked about this last year, didn't get any real answer though. I select medium power and angle the light down a few degrees, I haven't had any drivers flash or 'beep' me so I presume it works. Not an ideal solution obviously.

Re: Oval chainrings

I can be a nerdy person, but I don't know a lot about bike standards so I've had to look into this.

So, boost relates to the wheel hub width, my rear hub is 148mm which makes it boost. Therefore I would need the chainring with the 3mm offset? If I'm wrong someone shout out please!

Re: Oval chainrings

They're not cheap, might wait till I change the chain and do both, but in anticipation... My crank is a Race Face Aeffect 32 tooth. Absolute black show two options here, a 6mm offset and a 3mm. Do they mean the offset created by the dish in the chainring? I put a straight edge on the back face and m...

I wondered how many of us had tried these out? Anyone who didn't get on with them in the long term? Waste of money or the best thing since sliced bread? Thanks for your input.

Shame to penalise the responsible as well as the irresponsible, but it's the right thing to do. I'm sure it was a disposable bbq (or rather it's owners) that caused the fire on the moor behind Ramshaw edge the other year.
