Re: Which cycling shorts
yeah, i'm the same. the padding just feels weird to me (i never took the time to get used to it i suppose). i'm currently sporting a pair of 'Gore Bike Wear Plaster Ultra II Baggy Shorts' which come with removable padding (which i always take straight out). i'm on my second pair - they last as well ...

Re: Calling Fat Bike owners
i'm just beginning the process of designing/building myself a fatbike frame and those dates seem to it in with the current provisional dates for our trip back to the UK and so, although between now and then anything could change, i'm potentially up for this.

howdy all,
thanks for the continued posts and interest. i've been too busy to devote much (any) time to this idea in the last few days but i'll get to it just as soon as i get the chance.
apologies, gairy.

Re: A tarp Q ... if you'd be so kind.
i don't think the wheel issue would ever be a deal-breaker for me but it just kind of makes sense to use something you're already taking with you (and I usually take at least 1 if not 2 wheels!).

Re: 2012 Bivvy* a month challenge
8 out of 8! I did some maths on Friday and realised that I have no free evenings for the rest of the month and so, beginning to panic about the '2012 Bivi a month challenge', I opted to do a 12 hour stealth-bivi last night. About 20:15 after finishing dinner I set-off, rode 10 miles and slept under ...

Splendid! So if/when things get as far as the beginning of plotting a route I've got offers of assistance from: Pawel Slugwash (maybe? if I can find something small enough to not anger your wife/other time commitments?) Adjustablewench Thanks fellas - very much appreciated. Once things begin to take...

Re: EDMBR....?
Sure, I get what you want, and it's your vision. That's true but this idea is only as good as it is workable for those interested in this kind of riding (and you seem like a prime example). It's great that you're taking the time to chat with me about this as you've clearly ridden more of these kind...

Re: EDMBR....?
Stevew, Don't get me wrong - my naming the GDMBR as 'technically tame' wasn't me being negative about it but more just an observation about one of it's characteristics. I was trying to highlight that any trail which followed the watershed in Europe would inherently be more of a technical trail than ...

Re: EDMBR....?
Good work there Gairy ... from small acorns, blah blah blah ;) Thanks - this particular acorn has quite a bit of growing to do! This look pretty ambitious. Yep - It's nothing if not ambitious (except maybe overly-ambitious)! The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route is an vaguely exciting trail, which h...

Re: EDMBR....?
Chew, Yeah it does, kind of, in certain places. It's the GR7 which passes near my house and was the trail I was on when I first started thinking of the idea. There's a bunch of trails which follow the watershed for short sections which is looking like it might make things easier (at least in particu...
