Re: Bank Holiday ... what you doing?

We are finishing off our bike packing trip of the Southern Upland Way - Moffat to Cocksburnpath path. Looks like there will be a nice South Westerly wind pushing us along too :D

Re: Tent shopping advice.

Anyone know the pack size of the new Zephyros tents? The original one was pretty big which is what made me choose the vango helium in the end.

Re: Tent shopping advice.

I noticed these on F&T today - £45 and 2.6 kilos - not ultra lite but seems pretty good for the money.

Re: Your favorite alpkit goodie?

I bought a filo jacket last month which is great - very nice and warm and will be taken on my SUW bikepacking trip next week. The 13l airlok xtra bags are all I need for bikepacking - one on the bars and one on the seat - no need for expensive revelate/wildcat stuff. However, my most used bit of kit...

Re: Instaflator

I haven't seen the clip (blocked at work) but the UL Downmat I got came with a large (maybe 30l) stuff sace / inflation bag. Only takes two or three fills from the bag and it's up. Brilliant IMO 8-) Unfortunately, the synmat UL doesn't come with one and the schnozzle pump bag seems a bit pricey at ...

Instaflator

Anyone heard of these? Came across this on a post on backpacking light forum, they seem pretty handy for blow up airbeds (especially down ones where you don't want to introduce moisture from your breath) - they work on a principle called ' the bernoulli effect' . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yJLVY...

Re: Exped Syn/Down Mats?

Thanks all. I'll have a look at the cheapy ones posted above and see if rudedog replies about where he got one for £60 on line! Cheers. He mentioned http://www.flubit.com looks interesting... Aye, it was £20 cheaper from flubit - the only concern is that they buy the item for you and you pay them. ...

I was thinking one of those lightweight microfibre towels would do the trick - you could wipe the inside of it down before you get out.

Re: replacement tent poles for cheap crap tent

Which Lidl tent is it? I bought the rocktrail single skin one a couple of years ago and the condensation was a killer with it - trying to wriggle out of the tent without getting covered in water was nigh on impossible.

I use memory map on my iphone but there is an android version of the app also - the maps are pretty cheap and you can import gpx files etc.

Re: Kit list for a Newbie

I've found that packing the seatpost drybag as tightly as possible makes it more stable as you can then get the straps really tight round it without the contents shifting as you ride. For me, its my tent (minus poles), pot+stove and then jamming my sleeping bag in to fill any spaces and make it as c...

Re: attaching dry bags to the bike

I wouldn't have thought including a strap round the seat post would make it any less stable, just make sure you have packed the bag as tight as possible.
