Re: What you done t' your bike today

Gave it a good go today around t'Dales. I was going to say I gave it a good thrashing today but on reflection that's possibly the wrong phrase. Have to say that it felt rather weird. BUT! Reginald's Rear is in top condition this evening (available for inspection upon request) and not sore in any way...

Mmm, I believe falling slate delivers a nice clean cut a bit like a guillotine  . I'm declining the pleasures of that establishment tonight in favour of the deluxe sister place down the road. The lime kiln has a certain appeal but Bob's going to test that another time.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

'Live BaM In Progress' In typically Dalesman fashion, what Bob described as 'up a bit of a hill' and 'a nice barn', can be translated into Chilterns Softie Speak as: 1000' up a long 1 in 5 lane, followed by a trek across the rainswept moor. (Passing a superb little roadside barn in the process...) A...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

^^ Fantastic! "Events dear boy, events" . Just about to wobble off and avail myself of a Bob-recommended Spot near Settle. So my expectations are high  . He said there's room for eight, so I've now got to spend some time wandering the village trying to convince seven fair ma...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I used to go out with a girl who was at Lancaster Uni and lived in town. Reg you've left off this option which is what I mainly did when I was there Plan E: Go to town drinking from about 7pm and end up at the Student Union, continue drinking through the night, walk back to town just as it's gettin...

Cheers Bob. I'll get a bit nearer and drop you a line once I've landed. Prob early PM or summink. Looking more closely, The Talbot looks like nice beer and veg food so maybe lots of out and backs from there  . Got nae supplies at all apart from porridge. Not even any Tunnocks which is unusual.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Off to Lancaster to see Mrs Perrin's best school mate and their other chum. Obviously Reg isn't allowed to witness what the Three Witches get up in their coven (apparently there's lots of nude dancing round the fire at midnight which I'm pretty keen on normally so that's a shame) so he's going to ha...

I've achieved much the same effect with a bit of old carrier bag and an elastic band.
I once knew a girl who used the same items but for a different purpose ... but similar maybe.

I'm amazed how small you can get elastic bands these days

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

Cue lots of tarp discussion  . Depends how big the tarp is. Eg. 8 x 10 should give you acres of room and plenty of height with 110cm pole(s).

Mr Bearbones will be along in a jiffy to extol their virtues I hope  . Don't give up just yet  .

Sports Direct have a Marmot Essence at half price £85 at the moment. Light 200gish, armpit vents, no insulation of course but why would you, kept me dry for a day in heavy rain. Love mine. [edit: although it must be said in fairness that durability isn't 100% while sliding down the road on your back...

You may find this vaguely exciting: https://youtu.be/6RiYXI1Tfu4 It's the UK's last aerial ropeway, and it's entirely gravity operated. Finally got round to watching the whole of that. Rivetting stuff. Honest. In fact, so rivetting I went on to see the more recent addition: https://www.youtube.com/...
