Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

In a fusion of interleaving posts I wonder if Teapot would eat pineapple for breakfast. Maybe if it was hollowed out and had a mouse hidden inside it? In a genuine, for once for Reg, Cheery Friday report; I've just been down to the river to check on my little guerilla-planted babies (23 oak saplings...

We're all expert practitioners Here of the noble art of the Second Breakfast, and indeed Third Breakfast. I'm not sure how this suggestion would go down with Boners: https://amp.theguardian.com/food/2024/jan/26/english-breakfast-society-recommends-swapping-tomato-for-pineapple Swap the fried toms fo...

Re: What are you drinking now?

I'm mildly apprehensive about this one (even though it's a stout, ho-ho). Might split it across two nights. On the upside I presume it's approved of by This Place, being from Bear Town, but then again it's disapproved of because it claims to be a "campfire treat" and obviously they're a no...

Blimey. That's a shocking sight for us shed bivviers. Poor thing. Looks like the flat-packing procedure has been reenacted.

I'm going to have to go and have a soothing pot of tea and a biscuit and a sit down after that traumatic sight.

Re: Have tarps lost their popularity?

Not sure why I'm justifying my tarp fanaticism again, and each to their own obv. And hopefully Stu posted to inject a bit of friendly ribaldry/rivalry on a dull Tuesday  . Often tent users seem to want to hide from 'bad' weather. With the increase in interest in 'gentler bikepacking' from non...

Re: What's your single best item you own for camping?

I don't think I've ever needed a knife, let alone a leatherman type tool. That said, I do have a tiny Gerber (dime?) in my oh-sh*t-kit, although its never been used I think I'm with you John. As discussed in 'analogue/digital' a while ago, I can absolutely understand the pleasure and satisfaction o...

I find that a "Carry On Camping" DVD is always useful for inspirational purposes.

A nice solid opener there our Sean and Ralph. Interesting you can find little pockets of trees on the Isle. Presumably the % coverage is lower than average UK? Or is it?
