Re: the toughest road climb in the uk is.......... ?
I can't resist saying that I "Everested" Bealach Na Ba from the Applecross side - inspired by Rich Seipp's exploits on the Mam Nick climb: https://www.strava.com/activities/313135221 I have done 68 of Simon Warren's "Top 100" UK road climbs and it's up there as one of the toughes...

Re: Tubeless Repair Kit
I thoroughly recommend the Stans Darts - I bought some after Alex Berry raved about them and then saw him use one. Not cheap but very effective. You pre-load them and then insert and remove the applicator. I have had to use it once. I keep the handy loaded applicator in my jacket pocket. If you can ...

Re: Cassette
If you can wiggle the cassette rings slightly side to side then it sounds like you may need a slightly thicker spacer. I have had this issue in the recent past with a Sunrace cassette on my freehub.

Re: Cairngorms Loop 300 - September Group Start?
I finished in 33:56 hours. https://strava.app.link/1bi8NSZDL9/ - There's a few pics there, including one of the initial hike-a-bike out of Glen Tilt :o Relieved to see others found it tough too! Anyway, I ended up bivvying just outside Aviemore. The sting in the tail (the loop via Fealar Lodge and D...

Re: Cairngorms Loop 300 - September Group Start?
I've got the Descutes tarp tent and a Borah bivvy bag - assuming the ground will be soaking. I have never ridden through a night, but will try. If I do have to stop I will see if I can limit the "sleep" to a couple of hours. The Aviemore filling station sounds like a good target for someth...

Re: Opinions on winter wear trousers, thermals and waterproofs
For the conditions you are describing, I would be wearing medium-fleeced 3/4 bibs. I would only put something over if forced to by the conditions: Up until now I would then put on lightweight waterproof trousers such as the Alpkit Parallax one or Montane Minimus pants. Based on recommendations here ...

I also run Nobby Nics tubeless on my hardtail MTB bikepacking bike in the Dark Peak and beyond and have done for many years. 27.5" 650B wheels 2.6" tyres 23psi but could possible go a bit lower. Very happy with them. This is a pasting of the specific type: Schwalbe Nobby Nic Evo 27.5"...
