Re: Another 'new' Cycling UK route

I seem to remember there was a survey asking various people which was England's second city. Brummies said Brum, Mancunians Manchester, folk from Leeds chose Leeds etc.

Scousers said London.

Re: Another 'new' Cycling UK route

BTW - Mach' isn't in Snowdonia
The end point in Conwy is outside the National Park boundary too, but I suppose that's the point in a route that crosses somewhere.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Planet X have down sleeping bags in their current sale. 200/400/600g of 750fp down, claims to be RDS certified. Prices £80-£136.
Also, synthetic bags £32-£48, down to 4°C comfort rating.
Could be worth a punt for anyone needing something on a budget?

Another vote here for rolling up a heavy waterproof and strapping it to the front roll or saddle pack.

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

Popped out on Friday evening for a night alone. Normally I’d check in with local bivvy buddies, but this time, I was bivvying FOR SCIENCE! There’s a chap at Sheffield Hallam Uni who’s doing some research into “solitary activities”. For my part, I needed to do some solitary activity, write a little d...

You can get Bing OS on mobile using the "Desktop site" option (in Chrome at least), but it's very slow to render.

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

I've just (nearly) finished repairing a bow for someone that they lent to someone else who proceeded to try and string it backwards, which resulted in 8" snapping off the end - knowing I've saved a £350 bow from the fire is quite cheery. Blimey, that sounds like a bit of a save! Got any pics o...

Re: Sit Mat

I've got a foam folding one like this: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/MVsAAOSwbYddUpwT/s-l500.jpg Bit bulky, I carry it in my rucksack. I've also had a lot of success using the foil backed bubble-wrap stuff, akin to what Stu sells for pot cozies. Probably not as effective for long stops, but just fo...

Re: Parking near Hathersage

There is a car park outside Alpkit, but it's shared with the local deli and curry house.
I'd suggest trying Oddfellows Road. There's a paid car park there, but also unrestricted parking just opposite next to the tennis courts.
