Re: lithium batterys,

On this subject, have never got a definitive answer from either tinternet or light companies about whether to leave the batteries fully or partially charged to get the best longevity. Even had different answers from one company at different times. At one point the consensus seemed to be that if leav...

Re: indoor meths cooker testing

"Who can get the longest flame without burning the house down?" Must admit it took a bit of tinkering to get it to work sideways. Bioethanol's worth a try, although Stuart doesn't approve ;-). No pong at all. Well, smells a bit like a voddie cocktail so you could toast your pyrotechnic ski...

Re: Meths?

Also bought some from GO a while ago at about five quid for the litre. However my best effort was a couple of weeks ago at B&Q who flogged me 2 litres of "La Hacienda" Bioethanol for £4.50. It's excellent. Managed to cook a three-course Christmas dinner for six on Stuart's 22g stove. A...

Re: The post man's been ...

"Titanium windshield from China.". Hi Frog, yeah I got the very same one a few weeks back. Not worked out best way to use it yet with the 22g stove, and got a few so-far-unresolved concerns. It doesn't really free-stand, and if you cough too hard it blows away; not entirely surprising I su...

Season’s Bleatings to all (Baa Baa Humbug?). Apologies for not being a regular contributor, “family reasons” for some time, blah, so shan’t over-rate my ravings by creating a separate new “My Trip” topic.. however I get so much pleasure browsing here every day it seemed only fair to try and chip in ...

Re: Lock

Another one for consideration, which a few days ago I gave nasty amazon £10 for: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosvision-Ultra-Secure-Combination-Retractable-pushchair/dp/B00DG2TNB6/ref=sr_1_55?ie=UTF8&qid=1442067858&sr=8-55&keywords=bike+lock. "Bike, ski, and pushchair" it says, so ...

Just "upgraded" my Exped UL 7 to new Hyperlite version: http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/sleeping-mats-c58/all-sleeping-mats-c146/synmat-hyperlite-m-regular-sleeping-mat-p3886/s16227 Bit over £70 limit, but only 340g and supposedly down to -6c. Will keep the UL, maybe pu...

Re: favourite way to set your tarp up?

Very creative that. Raises the next fun question of "favourite ways to double-up/triple-up your gear?". Eg. Could've just used your actual boot/shoelaces rather than taking others, and could also be used as very short washing line (maybe just long enough for a pair of socks) ((or indeed ju...

Re: favourite way to set your tarp up?

Fantastic pic! If you'd dug a little pit (not raining presumably) you could have had it flat to the ground so no need for any lines and poles at all - ultimate light weight and simplicity. Apart from carrying the shovel around of course.

Re: favourite way to set your tarp up?

Rank amateur here, bear [bones] with please ;-). Sorry in advance for long post too - bored decorating! Re tarp setup, got Rig7 and DD Superlite 3x2.9 (couldn't make my mind up, sigh), 2mm dyneema red/yellow, mini lineloks, Ti pegs, along with (winter) Drishell PHD bag, Synmat UL7 + pillowpump (need...

Re: what was your original setup like?

Thanks for the comments chaps, it's good to be here. Apologies for dissin' (is that the word? I'm not really down with the kids I'm afraid) the Yak, but I wanted summat with good vertical clearance and the Extrawheel fitted the bill. With all the aforementioned caboodle packed into the panniers the ...

Re: what was your original setup like?

Ayup, I'm a refugee from STW. Posted once then sussed that all the top [wo?]men were over here. Forgive me for lowering the tone of the proceedings. By way of tipping my little toe in the murky waters of BBP and risking a post, here seems good a place as any.. Dawes Cougar bought in 1985 – loved ste...
